What’s old is new again… again as the first of Spring 2012 trends begin to emerge at New York’s Fashion Week. This time it’s the chill of an open shoulder. In the nineties, Donna Karan unveiled her iconic “cold shoulder” dress, famously saying that “there’s no need to diet for this look because you never gain weight in your shoulders.” Um. Okay… but that aside, the look is decidedly sexy… and back on the runway. BCBG Max Azaria added a cut-out shoulder to a vast array of his Spring 2012 collection, including a color-blocked jumpsuit, Nicholas K used the look on a bevy of boho-ish flowy midi dress and Richard Chai embellished a floral-printed button down top and dresses with it – and it’s only day two of the fashion frenzy.
