4 hair trends to try from Resort ’15
Along with doling out the next big thing in fashion, this season’s Resort collections are also rolling in the hair trends that well all be sporting through summer ’14. Think ultra sleek styles and fun accessories (we’re looking at you hair chalk), all geared toward beating the summer heat and humidity. From Proenza Schouler to Vera Wang — the haute heavies are keeping it cool, classic and very, very chic. Here are the best ways to style summer hair for 2014.
The most classic of the Resort runway trends is the simple middle part — made particularly stylish on the Proenza Schouler runways. Spray a little serum through your hair. Then use a fine tooth comb and straighten hair down the middle. Easy, peasy.
The silky, low-set ponytail made another classic splash on tresses, particularly note-worthy on the Tibi runway. Start with a flat iron to create smooth, silky locks. Then simply pull hair away from your face into a sleek ponytail that sits at the nape of the neck. A few drops of serum will enhance shine and help keep any wispy strands from breaking free.
Not quite the full head of pastel-hued hair of last season, a streak of pink or purple hair chalk was likely the most whimsical of the season’s runway. Paired with the collection at Louis Vuitton, the look adds a touch of punk while still staying all-occassion appropriate. And it all washes away with a little water.
Our final contender for coolest hair style of summer 2014 is one we touched on as a possible to-do for the coming holiday: the headscarf. A surefire way to hide frizzy warm-weather strands, a long skinny scarf wrapped around the crown of the head will keep the crown of your head humidity resistant while your lower strands float free.
