A Louboutin Approved Pedicure
The house of the red sole is taking their famed lacquer to task with the launch of the footwear designer’s very own cosmetics line, Christian Louboutin Beauté.
Joining the ranks of haute brands creating cosmetics offshoots like Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Tom Ford and Dolce & Gabbana (to name a few), Louboutin avoids the a trendy perfume or full out makeup line and sticks to what he knows best, nail polish. You know, pedicures and a really famous crimson hue. (It’s a stretch. I know.) Anyways, for a scant $50 a pop and a visit to the shoe department — where the polish will be displayed — the very first color in what will soon be a range of polishes can be yours. Naturally, it matches that coveted red sole.
The designer famously borrowed his assistant’s red nail polish to color a sketch of a shoe, and a star was born. “The red sole was born from red nail polish,” the designer said of the line. “I am giving back to nails what the shoe took from the nails so many years ago.”
