A Minty Answer To Your Candy Cane Surplus: Scrub!
Surely your Christmas tree is up and covered in lights, tinsel and that 24 pack of candy canes that never quite get eaten after the holiday. So here’s a little yuletide tip to tuck away for December 26th, in answer to the heart-felt question: what-to-do with the remainder of minty confections when their decorative services are no longer needed.
The good folks at Las Vegas’s Spa & Salon Vdara recently revealed their latest and greatest in-house treatment featuring the beloved peppermint candies to the make-up mavens at BellaSugar.com – a candy cane mani-pedi that will leave your fingertips tingling with holiday cheer. But the biggest news is the reveal by spa manager Shannon Mariani of the Peppermint Stick scrub recipe used in the foot-n-hand service just in case your holiday travels don’t take you to Sin City. Thanks Spa & Salon Vdara and BelleSugar.com – for having our holiday backs (and feet and hands)!

You will need:
A lidded jar or flip-top container
Cooking oil (we used almond)
Peppermint essential oil or fresh peppermint sprigs, ground
Optional decorations: ribbon, gift tags, etc.
- Mix sugar (brown is softer and finer, but white works just as well) with cooking oil until your desired sloughing texture is achieved.
- Add in a few drops of peppermint essential oil and stir. “Another great tip is just adding peppermint essential oil to a warm bath,” Mariani adds.
- Decorate the jar for holiday giving (or just keep for yourself).
- Spread all over feet, lower legs, and hands.
