Academy Award Red-Carpet Winners
While the show itself may have been less-than-exciting, the fashions that graced the red-carpet this Oscar Sunday could be described, in a word, as exceptional. Think plenty of Hollywood-ish sparkle, heightened color and a dash of classic drama as we here at PoshBeauty.com give you our picks for best dressed.
Let’s start with that aforementioned Hollywood-ish sparkle. A bevy of beauties donned the shining sequined, beaded and luminous look for their walk down the 83rd Annual Academy Award’s red-carpet, including the likes of Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams in a classic full-length Chanel gown, Best Supporting Actress nominee Hailee Steinfeld in a perfectly appropriate tutu-ish pink sparkler, Hilary Swank in a sequined and feathered strapless Gucci Premiere gown, and Gwyneth Paltrow wearing an art deco/ Grecian-inspired Calvin Klein gown.
Color was also a big contender this year, and perfectly pulled off by the likes of Jennifer Hudson in a gorgeous, low-cut burnt-orange Versace gown, Oscar-host Anne Hathaway in a bright crimson strapless, fitted Valentino gown and Black Swan’s Mila Kunis in a gorgeous lavender cut-out and lace embellished Elie Saab gown.
And despite the showy appeal of bright colors and shimmering fabrics and embellishments, traditionally elegant and dramatic black, gray and white still made a stellar showing, particularly on the likes of Helen Mirren in a stunning, fitted gray Vivienne Westwood gown with embellished puffed shoulders, Reese Witherspoon in a contrasting black and white strapless Armani Privé gown, and Camila Alves in a black, low-cut, flared full-length Dolce & Gabbana gown.
