Alexander Wang Fall 2011 NY Fashion Week Runway
It’s high time we here at Posh Beauty got to displaying the glorious creations that flocked to NYC last (and this) week for the cities oft-celebrated Fall 2011 Fashion Week. And to begin, we thought it would be rather urban appropriate to start with cool-girl favorite, Alexander Wang.
The collection was elegantly sexy with it’s multiple pieces of lush, cacoon-y outer-wear. Soft muted grays and pinkish-beige and simple black leather kept the coats, capes and sweaters from looking over-stated, while luxurious fur embellishments and quilting took top prizes for functionality meets form.
Always willing to push the envelope, Wang, a 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner and celebrity fave, wowed the crowd with his use of metallic fabrics, either as embellishment or to it’s full effect in several car-wash cut wrapped dresses and skirts.
Style.com’s live coverage of the event wrapped up Wang and his appeal best: “Wang made a triumphant return to form that injected the sexy, tough, cool-girl attitude he’s built his brand on with a heightened sense of luxury.” Yes. And yes.
