Anna Karenina Get’s It’s Own Banana Republic Capsule Collection
Hot on the heels of its very successful Mad Men-inspired collection, Banana Republic is once again setting their creative sights on the entertainment world — and this time their going for the big screen.
This holiday season, Banana Republic will unleash a capsule collection in partnership with Focus Features inspired by their latest historical epic, Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina.
The film, starring Kiera Knightly/ Jude Law, Anna Karenina will undoubtedly be chock full of gorgeous period dress, and the beloved brand has tapped the film’s costume designer, Jacqueline Durran to curate and style the collaborative capsule, which will likely include faux fur on coats and hats, and lots of lush, rich fabrics.
Banana Republic creative director Simon Kneen explained the seemingly unusual collaboration to WWD by noting that the film is a “different take on ‘Anna Karenina‘” specifically noting Durran’s use of “richly-textured fabrics in black and dove gray” that “betray the [1950's] Dior influence.” So any fears that 19th century Russian fashions might not apply to the present day, can be put to rest.
The collection will hit store shelves in October, so you’ll be appropriately dressed when the film hits theaters on Nov. 9th. And just to get you in the mood, here’s the film’s official trailer!
