Trending: Spring’s Sherbet Hued Leather

Tibi

With the weather heating up, it’s nearly time to put that trendy black moto-jacket and moto-boot combo back in the closet for it’s summer slumber – but that doesn’t mean your leather love has to go with it.

According to such coveted designers as Theory, J.Brand, and Alice + Olivia, the leather craze for summer 2013 is lightening up in shades of warm weather appropriate sherbet hues. Think mint-colored shorts, sky-blue jackets and peachy skirts—all in leather—and you’ll get the idea. Paired with white jeans, a loose tank, even last season’s denim cutoffs and you’ll be the one providing summer chic-inspiration!

Of course we don’t expect you to simply take our word for it—here are a few of our favorite proof-is-in-the-pudding pieces!

Calvin Klein Flash-Back and Flash-Forward

PoshBeauty.com sends a big shout-out to Calvin Klein and super-model Christy Turlington-Burns for announcing that the now 44-year old beauty, who shot her first campaign for CK when she was 19-years old, would once again be known as the face for the iconic brand.

Turlington-Burns is taking over the position from model Lara Stone while Stone is on maternity leave. Having first walked for the brand in 1987, Turlington-Burns spent a good portion of her career gracing the advertisements for CK Perfumes (Eternity, Contradiction), jeans, swimwear, and — perhaps most famously — CK Underwear. Once quoted in New York magazine as saying that it was “weird” being known as a Calvin Klein underwear model — we imagine that this time around the stunning mother of two will be proud to flaunt her well-toned 44-year old curves for the famed brand.

It seems 40 (and every age) is fabulous!

Must Have Monday: Smashbox’s Limitless Liner

Speed limits, cocktail limits, there are certainly times when it’s appropriate to respect ones boundaries — but when it comes to making up your party peepers we here at PoshBeauty.com prefer to throw caution to the wind. Uber-hip cosmetics co. Smashbox agrees, which is why the brand’s “Limitless” eyeliner is today’s coveted “Must Have.”

This aptly-titled liner eliminates the need for others with a built in sharpener, creamy formula that draws on effortlessly, and stays put whether you’re going for that pristine liquid liner look or a sexy smoky blend. Available in 8 glorious shades (“Golden Ivy,” “Amethyst,” “Smoke,” “Onyx,” “Java,” “Peacock,” “Indigo Ink,” and “Black Violet“) Smashbox’s LimitlessEye Liner ($19) sets a high bar for those less expensive drug-store brands — why buy several products when there’s one that does it all?

We Heart the Hydrangea — Spring/Summer 2013′s Most Fabulous Floral

It’s pretty clear that May’s illustrious bouquet is a-popping this spring making, floral fashions—dresses, shoes, separates, accessories, you-name-it—the trend to be seen in. So it was only a matter of time before the blooms themselves started vying for first position. There are roses, daisies and posies to-be-sure, but for our money, the race to the top of the floral bloom trend food chain is surely won by the hydrangea. The designer of Parisian labels Calla and Comptoir des Cotonniers have created a triple threat line with which to rush the American market called Calla Haynes whose first effort is a lovely, fresh, hydrangea-themed capsule that’s sure to take the bloom of those other spring florals. From dresses and T’s, to shorts and pants, the collection is ripe for the picking online now.

Alber Elbaz’s Lancome Collaboration Revealed!

As creative director of Lanvin, Alber Elbaz is no stranger to covetous collaborations—which brings us to today’s “OMG! I want!” must-have makeup. The eyes are the prize with the reveal of cosmetics one-off collection by Lancôme and Elbaz, set to hit stores (and online) in mid-June.

“I spend my time backstage at the Lanvin shows, and when I come out at the end, all I see are people’s eyes,” Elbaz told Style.com, which led to the designer’s decision to focus the Lancôme capsule on your windows to the soul. Think whimsical renditions of the cosmetic’s companies favorites packaged in one of four different Elbaz designs—Star, Doll, Drama, and Definicils—each one containing a matching eyeshadow palette, a mascara, and a set of false eyelashes. And all poised to make your peepers pop this summer.

Be on the lookout for the June 3rd release of a special film created by Elbaz for the collection, too. (You can check out the teaser here.)

A Case For The Crop Top

It may be time to rethink that cringe-inducing aversion to the crop top because when those “in the know”surmised that the belly-baring look would be a big one for 2013, they were most definitely onto something. Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Costume National and a whole slew of other designers have taken a shine to the look, offering up their own takes on the trend—but if you’re looking for further proof of the crop tops wearability, here’s what finally sealed the deal for us:

Zoe Saldana’s weekend appearance at the Berlin red carpet premiere of the film “Star Trek Into Darkness,” where the oft-admired actress sealed the trend-setting deal pairing a Calvin Klein crop top and skirt combo with a pair of sexy Jimmy Choo sandals. It seems the once ultra-casual trend has reached a new level of legitimacy and it’s a far cry from our 90′s television high school heroes (we’re talking about you Kelly Bundy and Donna Martin.) Now before you get all squeamish at the thought of exposing your midsection, here are a few tips on rocking the crop top trend regardless of how toned your tummy is!

1. Remember, how much you expose is up to you. If you’re proud of all that time you put in at the gym, then go on and try a crop top that hits above your belly button. If you’re less than confident about your midsection, a simple sliver peeking out just below your midriff is equally fashionable.

2. Wearing your crop top with a high-waisted bottom (skirt, shorts and/or pants) will ensure that your crop top looks more 2013 and less 1980′s video vixen. Add an outer layer like a fitted blazer, a pretty cardigan, or an urban cool leather jacket—to add even more up to date appeal. Look for ways to undo the undeniable flirtatiousness of a bare midsection and you’ll be on the right track.

3. Own it. This look is a head-turner, so wall-flowers need not apply. Confidence is key—so get out there and rock that crop top!
