Balenciaga’s Brag-Worthy Wearability – Paris 2011
Editors and critics alike gave a rousing nod of approval as Balenciaga paraded it’s latest and greatest down the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week.
One of the most memorable reviews of the collection came from the notoriously hard-to-please, Cathy Horyn of the New York Times, who called the complimented the collection on it’s being “wearable” and stated “What’s the line from ‘Jerry Maguire’? You had me at hello?” (I’m not completely certain about the electric blue uni-brow sported by some of the models being exactly ‘wearable’ – but I digress.)
And while it wasn’t just one thing that made Balenciaga’s Fall 2011 collection a fashion favorite, one aspect was a notable departure for the brand: faux leather or pleather. The luxe label’s Paris showing featured a vast assortment of jackets made of knitted fake leather. Guess it’s official folks, pleather has made the cut!
