The Perfect Lip Color for the IT Girl this holiday season

Looking for a last minute holiday gift for your sister, best friend, secret Santa, or co-worker? Well, you’re in luck because we here at Posh Beauty have you covered! The new limited edition It Girl Set by It Cosmetics is the perfect present! It’s a CC+Lip Serum and comes in a trio of fabulous colors that are perfect for the holidays.

There are so many things we love about this set. First of all the colors are phenomenal and they are all different from each other so you really get a lot of variety. There are three shades; Joy To The World, Snow Bunny, and Under the Mistletoe. Joy To The World is a perfectly pink color. It’s not too bright and not too pale, which makes it a great addition to any natural daytime look. We also love it because it compliments all skin tones. The second shade, Snow Bunny is a pale, frosty pink. We especially like it paired with a darker eye for a dramatic evening look. Its frosty hues really make it a great color for winter! Snow Bunny also looks great over nude lipstick. The last shade, Under the Mistletoe, is a nice berry hued red. It looks great by itself to give a gorgeous flushed red lip as well as layered over a red lipstick for an extra pop. The colors are more on the sheer side so if you’re looking for a really full color then you can easily layer any color over your favorite lipstick.

From Top To Bottom: Joy To The World, Snow Bunny, Under the Mistletoe

One of the things we love about It Cosmetics is that they incorporate great ingredients that are really beneficial into their products. This isn’t your basic lip-gloss set. These are lip serums that are extremely hydrating, which is perfect to combat chapped lips that plague us all during the cold winter months. They also contain several anti-aging properties. They include collagen, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. Not only are you getting gorgeous colors but you are also preserving and hydrating your lips!

Your lips will feel so supple and hydrated while wearing these colors. You will have to reapply after eating or drinking but that’s normal with any sheerer lip color. They will not make your lips feel sticky or oily. And the entire set is $39! What a steal! You can find this awesome trio of colors at Ulta. We will be picking up a set for all of our favorite ladies this holiday season. The It Girl Set is the perfect stocking stuffer and you might want to grab one for yourself too. Just pop on one of these beautiful colors and you’ll be ready to stand under the mistletoe with your hunnie for a holiday smooch!

The Edge Master

Regardless of what hairstyle you’re rockin, from a sexy & sultry sew-in to soulful Senegalese twists to a sleek high bun, maintaining sleek and fabulously laid edges is of a necessity. As of yet we weren’t able to find the perfect product to tame edges without any unwanted “side effects”. The various pomades either left an undesirable white residue in the form of caking or flaking, or was super slippery and provided a glossy appearance, but didn’t lay edges properly, and so on and so forth. Needless to say we were consistently unsatisfied, that is until receiving Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea EDGE TAMER in December’s ONYXBOX, a product that truly lives up to its name.

This parcel of perfection smells simply divine literally taking your breath away with just one whiff. Its clear, slight tacky consistency, is super moisturizing, however provides the perfect amount hold for variety of hair types. To put the tamer to the test we applied it to our edges after styling a sew-in for a night on the town and were extremely pleased with the results – the hair was laid until the next morning with no flaking, drying or caking. Our Beauty Editor also applied a very small amount of the nourishing shea butter and honey infused tamer to her daughter’s edges and kitchen (she has a full head of natural coils) when styling her hair and her ponies stayed in place through dance class, Gymboree and her normal excessive toddler energy. Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea EDGE TAMER is a must-have for your entire family’s hair care. 5 tips to winterize your skin

Dry indoor heating, cold winter weather and all of the late night holiday soirées you can fit into your schedule aren’t exactly a prescription for your #Iwokeuplikethis selfie. So in the spirit of giving, we’ve whittled together a few tips and tricks to help keep the stress and strain of the season from showing on your complexion… regardless of how little sleep you’re actually getting.

1. Take your pillowcase from pauper to princess. Tossing those cotton pillowcases and replacing them with ones made of silk will help eliminate those pesky lines and creases that linger when you sleep on your face. And since silk pillowcases are less absorbent than cotton, your moisturizer or overnight mask are more likely to benefit your skin then get sucked away by your pillow.

2. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. A simple way to recharge your complexion after a long night is to apply a moisturizing night mask before you hit the hay. Overnight masks are typically heavier and therefore pack more of a punch when it comes to quenching dry skin.

3. Super C. The nighttime is the right time to give your skin a boost of vitamin C. This powerful antioxidant is deactivated by sunlight, so your skin is more likely to take in the skin-brightening and collagen boosting benefits when you apply your vitamin C serum or cream post-bedtime.

4. Eliminate undereye baggage. While adding an extra pillow under your head will help keep fluid from pooling under the delicate skin around your eyes, adding an eye cream with hyaluronic acid can help minimize puffiness that does occur and hydrate at the same time.

5. Air care. Indoor heating may keep your warm, but it’s also a great way to suck all of the life out of your skin. The recommended humidity level of your home should sit between 30-50%. Help stave off winter’s dry, flaky skin and cracked lips and hands by investing in a humidifier to help replace the moisture in the air.

How to Get Luminous, Glowing Skin With Hourglass

Winter is officially upon us and that means we can look forward to cool weather, holiday spirit, bright glowing lights, and unfortunately, dry skin. For most of us the change in season means that our skin becomes dry due to the increased wind, cold dry air, and even using heaters in your home. But fear not, there is a way to keep the beautiful glow your skin has in the spring/summer months. And that is with the cult classic brand Hourglass’ Veil Foundation.

Hourglass is amazing brand for a number of reasons. It was created by beauty expert Carisa Janes and it launched in 2004 and it quickly gained a cult following after it was reported that Angelina Jolie was wearing it on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The beauty of Hourglass is that it’s based on scientific research. This is what makes their Veil Foundation the perfect addition to your makeup collection.

The Veil Foundation is quite remarkable for a number of reasons. Not only does it provide a beautiful, flawless, glowing complexion but it also has skincare benefits. It’s a foundation that actually helps to improve your skin by fighting signs of aging and wrinkles. It also has an SPF 15, and we all know protecting your skin against the sun is one of the most important ways to prevent signs of aging in our skin.

Hourglass is also great for those of us with sensitive skin. It’s free of parabens, sulfates, fragrances, oil, and phthalates. It is completely vegan and not tested on animals.

This amazing foundation is buildable, which means it provides a medium to full coverage without looking heavy. It gives a beautiful, natural luminance to your skin.  This is perfect to combat ashy, dull winter skin.  You can pair it with a dewy blush, mascara, and a bright lip and you will be ready for any holiday party.

Julia Roberts brings her star power to Givenchy

Givenchy creative director, Riccardo Tisci is pulling in the star power yet again, this time in the guise of the Pretty Woman herself, Julia Roberts.

Roberts posed for Givenchy’s S/S 15 campaign and looks every inch the star she is in the spread — powerful, elegant and naturally stunning. The label offered up a statement explaining the pairing (as if we needed an explanation) that read: ”Julia Roberts, international icon on and off screen, is the perfect match for Givenchy’s code of modernity. That is why Riccardo Tisci and photographers Mert (Alas) & Marcus (Piggott) shot Julia Roberts in her most signature Givenchy pieces: she appears wearing the boxy jacket, the classic lace shirt, and the woman’s tuxedo dress.”

Tisci’s rolodex is impressive to be sure, and he’s not shy about pulling in the celebs to boost his brand — most recently Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Ciara, Kanye — but this ‘A’-lister is a definite coup.

Pantone names it’s top hue for Spring 2015

Last month we teased the up-n-coming set list for Pantone’s Spring 2015 color cues, and now the color kings have officially crowned next years king. Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015 is a moody little number called Marsala. Think a dark, rusty red poised to take over your lipstick, wine and wardrobe palette from the time the first buds bloom to the fall of autumns first leaf.

Chosen each year by combing through design from fashion to interiors to graphics, and sourcing out the single common color thread that ties them all together, Pantone’s color of the year is a good bet when it comes to clueing in to next year’s runway collections. In fact, you can anticipate the hue in the designs of Fendi, Dennis Basso, and Hervé Leger for spring.

So why Marsala?

“Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” read a statement by executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman. “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings, and interiors.”

Beyoncé gift wraps your manicure

Queen Bey has unleashed yet another stealth announcement… and this one’s a beaute. Particularly for those as “into” nails as Beyoncé is.

The Queen of the Universe (and noted advocate of the Instagrammed manicure) has paired with her longtime manicurist Lisa Logan and famed nail brand NCLA to wrap up your holiday manicure in a most literal fashion. The mini-collaboration is a 4-piece selection of nail wraps, which we can be sure we’ll see on her own pampered paws at some point. The designs include a plaid pattern inspired by her “Flawless” video wardrobe called “I Woke Up Like This;” a neon sign “Blow” video-inspired look called “Je Ne Sais Quoi;” a take-off of the Tom Ford jumpsuit she wore at the called “No Rest In the Kingdom;” and scribbled track listing of her current CD called “I Come with a Side of Trouble.” So… you know… a 4-piece homage to… Beyoncé.

Available now at $18 a pop, any one of these will lend major street red to your holiday manicure and will ensure that you’re safe from any unwanted Beygency visits to muck up the season.

How to avoid the aging effects of sleep

There are countless reasons to nap during the holidays — post-feasting pass-out, post-shopping zone-out and the cozy warm comfort of your couch while it blusters and blows outside are all prime reasons to fall into a nap hole — but for heaven sake, let’s not forget about all the glorious ways getting a little extra shut-eye can unknowingly age you.

Yeah, we thought that would get your attention.

It’s no secret that natural repetitive movements like smiling, frowning, squinting and pursing your pout can create lines and wrinkles that last — guess what else is something we repeat, night after night, throughout the entirety of our lives causing wrinkles and lines? Sleep position.

Since giving up sleep entirely isn’t a viable option… let’s review. Sleeping on your side or your stomach and pressing your face into a pillow can create the same lasting wrinkles that repetitive expressions do. Regardless of your age, stomach and side sleepers have likely already woken up with a few new wrinkles imbedded between their brows, or emblazoned across their cheeks that take longer and longer to fade as the months roll by. All due to the repetitive motions of sleeping.

Did you know that the 60% of people that do sleep on their sides are also encouraging vertically creasing down the cheek and jawline of the preferred side, and reinforcing vertical wrinkles like frown lines and lip lines? Now imagine that you’re partial to sleeping on one side of your face and not the other — meaning only one side of your face is feeling the aging effects of your sleep position. *Gasp! Yes. We know.

What to do, what to do? First, feel the fear and make a concerted effort to sleep on your back. Not only will doing this make you less susceptible to the signs of aging caused by sleep, but it will also help drain the fluid that is the main cause of waking with puffy eyes and will help reduce your risk of skin breakouts caused by bacteria on your pillows and sheets. Adding a pillow under your knees will help keep you from rolling over while you’re attempting to train yourself to sleep on your back, and adding an additional pillow under your head or purchasing a pillow designed with neck support will help make the position more comfortable by keeping your spine in line.

If you simply cannot (will not) switch to sleeping on your back, try alternating the side on which you do sleep to help even out the damage, and swap out those cotton pillowcases for satin or silk as they’ll reduce the friction between your skin and the offending item.

Now commence napping… zzz… zzz… zzz.

Add a little pep to your step: must have red shoes

Bust that post-holiday mood (and even gloomier weather) but inserting a little pep-to-your-step in the guise of a pair of red kicks. Nothing says “sexy” like a pair of crimson heels or delicate ruby-hued ballet flats and — just our luck — donning a pair with everything from jeans and a sweatshirt to your little black cocktail best is a great way to glamorize your day-to-day wear. The fact that all the “it” girls are doing it simply gives us that much more reason. Here are some of our favorite red shoe moments of late.
