CHANEL CHIC: Spring 2011 Runway Hair and Make-up
Chanel 2011 Spring Runway Collection was filled with the glamourous couture classics as expected… (I’ve posted some of my favorites below as a little eye-candy for you – your welcome.)
What wasn’t expected was the dramatic make-up that accompanied Chanel’s fashions on their walk down the aisle. In a word: stunning. Chanel steered a straight and elegant course and stayed miles away from any previous nods to boho-isms.
The outcome was this:
Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, Peter Philips used the deep, dark smoky eye that extends to the brow after seeing a Lagerfeld sketch. Paired with a luminous fresh face and lightly tinted, dewy lips, the look had a ladylike intensity that highlighted some of the collections finer moments.
“The inspiration for the color came from the black-white-green French garden that was recreated in the Grand Palais, from the glow that we can find in black, grey and white pearls, and the enamel that Karl integrated into the costume jewelry.” said Philips.
(If you’ll excuse the aside: Speaking of jewelry. MY KINGDOM FOR THOSE EARRINGS!)
The hair was severely parted (either at the side or down the middle) and pulled back, which acted as a further nod to the heightened fresh face/dramatic eye combination – with one noted, and unusual exception: a thin black line painted down the hair part. It would be a challenge to incorporate this particular element into everyday wear – but the rest of the look is flawlessly beautiful and near perfect for any upcoming holiday parties.
