CHANEL GIVES THE ‘CAT-EYE’ NEW LIFE
If any one brand could manage to take the history out of the cat-eye, it’s Chanel – who sent their models down the runway recently with a quite modernized, yet equally appealing cat-eye penciled look.
Chanel’s creative director of make-up, Peter Phillips followed a hand sketching by Mr. Lagerfeld himself of a delicate face adorned in shades of pinks, grays and beiges. Using Chanel’s sought after cosmetics (including Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, Poudre Universelle Libre and Éclat Lumiere highlighting pen), Phillips managed a thoroughly Springy and completely flattering palette.
One product, in particular, was created specifically for the show. “It’s a real treat,” he said of a peachy highlighter-cum-eye shadow which he placed high on the cheekbones and blended up toward the temples – emphasizing the beautifully cat-eye liner (Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof long-lasting pencil in Ebène). The cat-eye, it seems, is good for more than just giving a gal that ‘retro-chic’ look – as this look is feminine, flirty and entirely new!
