Guess which coveted designer is the next name on H&M’s collaborative list of creations?

A Sneak Peak of Versace's H&M Collaboration

Why, Ms. Donatella Versace! (*internal round of applause)

Fashion tome WWD broke the news this morning that Versace was the latest and greatest addition to the list of designers collaborating with the fast fashion giant H&M. The iconic brand is set to unleash a capsule collection of womenswear, menswear and a peppering of home items – to be unleashed on November 17. (*internal marking of calendar)

The womenswear collection will include dresses embellished with studded leather, silk and colorful print, as well as accessories (think high heels and costume jewelry); while the menswear will feature sharp tailoring, a ‘perfect tuxedo’, belts and jewelry. The H&M/ Versace collaboration will also be the first to foray into home items, including cushions and a bedspread.

Lady D(onatella) has declined offers in the past to work on any lower-priced diffusion lines, telling a 2008 New York Times‘ TimesTalk series audience, “I respect everyone who does [those types of lines]. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.” So much for that thought.

Regardless, we here at PoshBeauty.com are thrilled that Versace has changed her mind, and apparently so is she. In a statement, Donatella said, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
