eBay Joins The Mega-Collaboration Bandwagon
Shoppers have big reason to celebrate this holiday season, as this year is turning out to be a veritable collaboration-palooza!
Hot on the heels of Target and Neiman Marcus announcing their mega-collaboration with TWENTY-FOUR different CFDA designers, eBay reveals its own hand at multi-designer collaborations for a special Holiday 2012 Collection.
Partnering with seven heavy-hitting names — Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Fallon, Jonathan Adler, Ruffian, Steven Alan, and Tibi — eBay’s Holiday Collective will feature five pieces from each designer and will include womenswear, menswear, jewelry, travel, electronic accessories, and home decor.
According to eBay’s general manager of fashion, Jeff Somers, the illustrious seven were chosen by the internet giant due to one commonality, “their genuine enthusiasm for eBay.” Somers then added that their talent also had something to do with it, “”each [designer] brings originality and a distinct point of view, and embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of our marketplace.”
Naturally the tweet-o-sphere was going wild. Fallon’s Dana Lorenz tweeted, “Thrilled to be collab’ing w @eBay_Fashion this holiday on a ltd edition, locally made collection. All my friends can attest I love Ebay!”, with Chris Benz responding, ”You & me, both, sister! Xx”.
So while we’re still clinging to July, it might be time to start thinking about those shopping lists a little sooner. The 40-piece collection will drop on November 12 with everything priced between $50 – $100.
