Fashion Elite Support Gay Marriage
Although it may not be a big surprise with the fashion world being as open minded and progressive as it is, it looks like the top influencers in the fashion world are joining in on the support for gay marriage. From Marc Jacobs (who is unapologetic about being”out” himself) has done a number of things in support the support of gay marriage including campaigns directed to the gay market, all the way to teaming up with the HRC (Human Rights Campaign) for a window display at the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique in NYC’s West Village, featuring a Spring wedding scene with two female mannequins at an alter. Kenneth Cole is lending his efforts also by creating a special T-shirt for the HRC with the slogan “Take your lover up the aisle — Support Marriage Equality.”
“As far as I’m concerned, having the right to say ‘I do’ is as fundamental as the right to vote,” ~Anna Wintour
These two are a part of a large movement in the fashion world using their influence to impact change including, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Julianna Margulies, Mario Batali, Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, Russell Simmons, Joan Rivers, Julianne Moore and even Barbara Bush! The most recent soldier on board is the empress of fashion herself Anna Wintour. She is participating in the HRC’s campaign “New Yorkers for Marriage Equality”, by recording a video showing her support. Watch the video of Anna here.
