Fashion Preview: Madewell
The good folks at Madewell revealed their 2011 fall collection this very morning at their retro-inspired offices, which had the same casual vibe as their clothes. And what was new in Madewell’s design arsenal wasn’t all that unexpected: slouchy silhouette’s and a jumble of mix-and-match textures.
Think comfy, nubby loose knits and boyfriend cardigans (we here at PoshBeauty.com especially love the burnt orange seen above) paired with gauzy skirts, and checkered and chambray button-downs layered with silk shirtdresses. Skirts follow the spring trend of the maxi – loose and long, while the denim is flared.
A few unexpectedly trendy, yet all together Madewell in appearance pieces included a stunning wool, foldy and flowing cape (paired with a simply chic brown leather fitted skirt).
And what are layers without accessories, such as the loosely knitted and a touch bulky circular scarf… and… do I spy suspenders?
The icing, at least for this writer, lies at the bottom. The footwear, that is! Madewell’s 2011 fall offerings are a gorgeous expansion on the labels 2010 winter wear of furry, animal print, wooden-heeled booties, pumps and loafers:
All in all, an array of comfy, cozy casual-wear with a touch of trend – Madewell does what they traditionally do and they do it well without veering too far off their charted course.
