Gucci Spring 2012 Men’s Collection
Frida Giannini put together a beautifully clean show this season for Gucci. Her focus seemed to be on the silhouette of the man, with sharp tailoring, and very fitted clothing that accents the shape of a man. The inspiration was said to be a British Gentlemen’s club. But this was not your traditional gentlemen’s club, this was more of a British Gentlemen’s club meets Ken Doll, a perfect combination of a classic well dressed man and the modern day “metrosexual”.
There was a large assortment amazingly designed jackets shown of all varieties, including suit jackets, rain jackets, and trench coats, paired with slim black trousers that snapped at the ankle, which was the perfect detail to add. There were a lot of patterns used through out the line that were definitely eye catching and attention demanding, yet not overpowering or tacky. Everything seemed to be very ready to wear, and although the looks seemed very dressed up, they managed to keep that signature Gucci men’s feel of a relaxed, and stylish man who means business, and can be appropriate moving from a day at the office, to a casual dinner, followed by a night out at the Boom Boom Room (or whatever ritzy spot you choose).
To sum it up- There weren’t too many outfits that walked down the runway this season that I wouldn’t personally buy and wear out on the town. Two Thumbs Up!
