How to Pull Off Men’s Tights: Givenchy Fall/Winter 2011
Riccardo Tisci is always one to challenge the way we look at fashion. He pushes boundaries on his runway by wielding obscurity to his benefit and redefining the norm. From albino models to transgendered models, androgyny and taboo are his muses.
For Givenchys Fall/Winter 2011 line Tisci takes his magnificent mind to the streets with a very urban ready to wear collection. This line was full of browns, crimsons, and blacks, with the occasional rottweiler adorned graphic tee to set it off. One of my favorite parts of this collection is the incorporation of mens tights into the line. As much as people do not believe that this trend will catch, I do. He takes the look and makes it completely masculine, pairing it with looser fitting shorts and jackets. This look has been around for a while in japanese fashion and is starting to take off in New York. Soon it will become a lot less obscure and lot more normal. If you think this is a look that you would like to pull off, check out your local American Apparel for mens tights. Take a look at the pics I have posted for some inspiration on how to pull it off.
