IT’S RAINING MEN: And Menswear!
If it pertains to fashion and WWD says it – then it is truth, and according to this industry tome: Menswear is back!
One of the hottest newsbits in the realm of menswear is the recent partnering of blue-collar workwear brand Carhartt with designer Adam Kimmel, who’ve recently announced plans to collaborate on a special 29 piece collection.
“I’ve worn Carhartt since I was 10 years old and for me it’s a chance to expand my business in a romantic way,” said Kimmel, who founded his signature men’s wear label in 2004 in New York. “Carhartt is an American heritage brand and it’s really maintained the integrity and quality of the product and kept a focus on their core customer over the years. This is the perfect marriage.”
Set to debut in May, the collection will be available at Barney’s New York and a small number of specialty boutiques and will include such staples as outerwear, jeans and plaid flannel shirts. A duffel and tote bag, and cotton cashmere beanies will round out the accessories. And the entire line will range from $70 to $600.
This unlikely pairing is the first for Carhartt in America, though they’ve teamed up with A.P.C., Vans and Burton in European markets – and probably won’t be the last. Carhartt/ Kimmel is already slated to be carried for two seasons will an open-ended likelihood of more.
