Uniqlo's +J-Collection

Earlier this week Jil Sander announced that the most recent collaboration with Uniqlo would be her last. The coveted collections between Sander’s and Uniqlo, consisting of basic, well-constructed designs, began rolling out in 2009 when Sanders was given the creative-director role.

The end of the +J line comes as a bit of a surprise to fashion followers because just last year, Sanders announced that she would continue the line indefinitely, but has the designers reputation as being notoriously difficult to work with brought about the lines demise?

According to a press release the answer is no:

With the recent completion of the design of the…fall and winter collection, Ms. Sander and [Uniqlo] agreed that they had fully explored the possibilities of their creative collaboration and accomplished what they had set out to do. Consequently, the two parties have decided to wrap up their design consulting agreement with this collection.

So let’s take a peek at this final capsule collection consisting of men’s and women’s puffy jackets, thick sweaters and beautifully tailored wool coats. In typical Sanders fashion the photos include plenty of detail shots of sturdy seams, buttons and stitching.
