London Fashion Week: J.W. Anderson Mens F/W 2011
Although fashion week has come and gone with a fury here in NYC, leaving our heads still spinning from all of the amazing designs and the hectic week full of shows, and parties, and after parties, it has moved on to the next fashion forward city with no hesitation. It sometimes amazes me how these designers keep themselves together through all of the chaos brought on by each fashion week. London Fashion week is the next stop, let’s see what this incredibly style conscious city has to offer us this season…
This week the J.W. Anderson line premiered and I found it to be quite interesting. For inspiration for the show he not only studied the underground London fashion scene (which is rather interesting and often abstractly peculiar if you haven’t seen it), but he also checked out the underground wears of different Northern/North Eastern European for inspiration and you can see it in his collection.
He mixed interesting jacquard and paisley patterns, with saturated solid colors, and added hoods to usually hoodless items like casual and formal blazers, which I love because I think a hood looks good on anything! He also had a very furry theme, with furry sweaters, and interesting white fur on the hoods of his outerwear, and even went as far as putting white fur on the colorful mens boots. All in all, I think this was at least an interesting collection that stepped out of the box and spotlighted a fashion subculture that isn’t explored often.
