New York Fashion Week nails, in their bright, multi-toned shades and designs, had critics and trend-watchers all a flutter, but let’s delve into another equally outrageous and oft-mentioned accessory – hair.

Our trend-watch begins with an unusual hair-cessory that was seen on a multitude of runways, wrapping fabric in with intricate braids and twists to create a multi-textural and variously hued look.

Designer Rachel Roy used this look to create a fashionable, yet subtle effect off-setting the model’s soft-handed make-up, while Thakoon went much, much bolder with multi-colored knit and fringed fabrics woven over and under asymmetrical wraps of hair.

Another trend that appeared at various runway shows was the retro-inspired, up-do – ranging from all out beehive at Ivana Helksinki’s collection, to the softly messy up-do wrap seen on rocker/designer Ms. Gwen Stefani at her Fall 2011 showing.

Lastly, think loops, as there were plenty of loop-ish hair designs seen on a bevy of runways, from the multi-looped Moulin Rouge-ish up-do’s that graced Monique Lhuillier models, to the single, elegant, big hair loop that adorned the heads of the models at Luca Luca.

We here at PoshBeauty.com are loving the up-do variety that seems to be so evident in the coming seasons and can’t wait to try some of them out ourselves!  The question is: Would You?  Let us know!
