Marc by Marc Goes Crispy and Clean
It seems Posh Spice isn’t the only one to take on sporty turn.
The second collection from Marc by Marc [Jacobs] was pared way-way down from either his punk rock roots or typically print-heavy fussiness for a seasonal offering that was pared-down, crisp and sporty.
Naturally, the big names were on hand for Jacob’s diffusion collection, which featured 50 pieces of mens and womenswear. Fashion heavies like Grace Coddington, Kate Lanphear, Hamish Bowles, Anna Della Russo, Mickey Boardman, Scott Schuman, Bill Cunningham, Lynn Yaeger, Tim Blanks as well as Jacob’s latest muse and ad starlet Elle Fanning were all in attendance.
Think a host of mix-and-match separates in forgiving easy-to-wear silhouettes, including casual dresses, pants, skirts, jackets, tops and a smattering of vintage-inspired swimsuits. The palette was at both times understated (with a lot of monochromatic pieces) and ready to Springy — poppy neons paired with navy, khakis with an oomph of coral, and of course the cool whites that signal summer’s onset.
While Jacobs certainly paired down the quirk, it wasn’t forgotten completely. The prints when he used them were fun and happy (think pink parakeets against navy) while certain pieces featured a slash of a ruffle or a cheeky logo printed ‘T’. Here’s a little peek at what to expect from Marc by Marc in 2012:
