Maybelline Debuts Shu Pei Campaign
Shu Pei is a 20 year old Chinese model fronting the major Maybelline campaign and pushing the envelope for Asian models to rise. Pei first burst onto the scene back in 2008 on the runways and has worked with notable brands such as Chanel and Hermes.
She stopped the show appearing as the first Asian model to rock the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show back in 2009 and was the first Asian face to grace the ad campaigns of Estee Lauder.
Maybelline New York Global CEO Damien Bertrand told Models.com: “Shu Pei not only looks outstanding, but she also has inner fire. Her dazzling image and style and unique temperament in the fashion world has demonstrated she is fully capable of endorsing and interpreting an international cosmetics brand such as Maybelline New York, where we search for the perfect qualifications and personality. We are convinced that signing with Shu Pei internationally for our team in Asia injects fresh energy.”
The Asian sensation isn’t just a fad. More designers and magazines are using Asian models to break the mold and re-define the same old boring ideals of beauty. It’s safe to say that we may see more Asian models hitting the runway for Spring fashion week.
How excited are you about the new campaigns and representation going on in the fashion world?
