Model Mayhem: Liya Kebede
Don’t sleep on super model Liya Kebede’s star power. She was number eleven on Forbes’ World’s 15 Top-Earning Supermodels in list (2007). Currently residing in New York, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia born Kebede hit her peak when fashion designer Tom Ford asked for an exclusive contract with her for his Gucci Fall/Winter 2000 fashion show.
Kebede is one bad chick and has also walked the New York, Milan, London, and Paris runway shows. Appearing on the 2002 Paris Vogue cover (a magazine/spread dedicated entirely to Kebede) and numerous other prominent magazines, she has advanced as one of the worlds most famed and illustrious models/women of our time.
Not only is she rocking the fashion world with her glamor and beauty, but she is also changing the world with her foundation – The Liya Kebede Foundation – that is dedicated to saving the lives of mothers and children world-wide.
Kebede was appointed the WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in March 2005.
This wife, mother, maternal health advocate and super model is more than an inspiration. She set’s an example for the rest of the world to follow. She’s now successfully crossing over into films. She starred in 2009′s “Desert Flower,” a biopic about legendary Ethiopian model Waris Darie, and now she has a plum role in “In The Woods” starring Terrance Howard and Yoko Ono.
Is there anything she can’t do? Probably not! Let’s be inspired by this fashionista philanthropist to change the world!
