Movies Continue To Dominate Your Nails
It seems the movie-inspired make-up trend is still in full force (sheesh… those movie folks sure love a cross-marketing scheme), especially when it comes to your fingers and toes.
You guessed it! We’re talking nail polish… and lots of it! Starting with this weekend’s big box office winner The Hunger Games that inspired a 12 color collection of nudes, metallics and glitter-infused hues by nail brand China Glaze. This particular collaboration hit store shelves a few weeks back just in time for the film to inevitably take the box office crown and start to fuse itself into the fashion and beauty world.
Next up is that master of movie-infused polishes OPI (remember their recent Muppet Movie line?) Pairing with what’s sure-to-be big a box office draw, the nail brand has set it’s sights on a lines of lacquer taking it’s color cue from Spider-Man. So if you’re expecting cleverly titled hues like “Your Web Or Mine” (a coral-y pink) and “My Boyfriend Scales Walls” (a bright white) to accompany you to the theater — you won’t be disappointed.
And not to be outdone, polish brand Orly is also producing a movie-inspired collection, this one taking a darker cue from Tim Burton/Johnny Depp remake of Dark Shadows. This four color collection will include shades like “Mysterious Curse”, “Buried Alive”, “Decades of Dysfunction”, and “Grave Mistake” and will launch in May.
