Oprah Interviews Ralph Lauren for his First T.V. Interview
Oprah Winfrey interviewed Ralph Lauren for one of the final shows of her epic 25th season finale. The media empress and fashion icon adorned their most stylish ranch duds looking ever so appropriate as they explored Laurens’ RRL Ranch in the gorgeous city of Telluride, Colorado. You can see Oprah wearing the highly coveted (and sold out) RRL “it” sweater of the season, a Navajo blanket inspired cardigan, seen previously on stars such as David Beckham and Adam Levine. If you are looking for this sweater (like I am), it is rumoured that a few have been spotted in some of the trendy West Village shops in NYC.
In Ralph Laurens first ever television interview he opened up about a variety of topics including his humble beginnings to his catapult and continuing reign of the fashion world. He also dilvulged on the pressure of designing a perfect wedding gown for his daughter Dylan, who is getting married next month. He created several sketches, which he showed to both the bride-to-be and her mother. He said he wanted to do something that was better than anything he had ever designed before, and while the actual gown wasn’t revealed, Dylan Lauren already knows she is one happy customer: “I may not take it off after the wedding.”
When Winfrey asked how he came up with the brand name Polo, he responded simply with “I couldn’t call it basketball, I like sports. Polo represented an international sport. It was a little more sophisticated.”
It was a one of a kind experience to see these two masters of their industries, that have truly lived the “American Dream,” collide and discuss their journeys.
