Pantone's Color of 2012: Tangerine Tango

Replacing Honeysuckle as Pantone‘s official Color of the Year, 2012′s Tangerine Tango is seeing some very serious action in the fashion and beauty realms. In fact, the second TT was dubbed ‘THE’ color – designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Nanette Lepore were clamoring all over themselves to include it in their collections.

Tangerine Tango is a “spirited reddish orange” reminiscent of sunsets. “[It's] sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive.” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said in a recent press statement, “Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” Wow. That gal sure knows her color.

And lest you think Tangerine Tango is solely interested in dominating the fashion world, get a load of today’s latest TT triumph: A partnership with Sephora.  Pantone is set to launch a collaborative line that centers around this most recent Color of the Year. The collection will include both makeup and beauty accessories and will range from $18-$80. Only available on Sephora.com, you can start snapping up these tangerine dreams in March.
