Pantone’s Latest Love: Radiant Orchid

We’re only a small step into 2014, but it seems planning is everything for the good folks at Pantone — particularly when it comes to unleashing the next big “it” Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid.

Say goodbye to the cool jewel-tones of 2013 and hello to a softer, more sensual hue, ripe with fuchsia, purple and pink undertones emanating “great joy, love and health.”  Pantone hails Radiant Orchid’s versatility in the realms of fashion, interior design and beauty, citing its universally flattering rosy tones which produce a healthy glow on the skin, its “uplifting and bold” statement accompanying a sitting room’s neutral palette, and as a modern take on a classic red manicure or pout.

A noted favorite of Spring 2014 runways, Radiant Orchid was already on Pantone’s radar appearing in the PANTONE Fashion Color Report Spring 2014, along with other notable favorites like: Cayenne, Hemlock, and Freesia, but none could trump it’s splendor.  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® sums this years Color of the Year perfectly, likening the color as, “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”
