Have you ever accidentally spritzed yourself in the face with your favorite eau de parfum on a rushed morning and wound up tasting a mixture of flowers, pungent alcohol and tinny yuckiness for the rest of the day? Well that’s what today’s cosmetics news called to mind.

“Body architect” (What the heck is that?!) Lucy McRae and “synthetic biologist” Sheref Mansy are developing a fragrance that you swallow… in a capsule… aptly called Swallowable Parfum. Think a cosmetic pill that enables your skin to emit a genetically unique scent once it’s absorbed. Your dermis, in a sense becomes the spritzer on your fave bottle of fragrance.

Fragrance molecules are excreted through the skins surface during perspiration, leaving tiny droplets on the skin that emanate a unique odor. The potency of scent is determined by each individuals acclimatization to temperature, stress, exercise or sexual arousal.

Having just come from the gym, we’re not really sure if that’s such a good thing, but watch the Swallowable Parfum video below, and let us know what you think! Would you? Should you?
