Sarah Jessica Parker Spills On Her Forthcoming Shoe Line
Didn’t last week’s announcement by actress and fashion heavy Sarah Jessica Parker that she would be launching a shoe line, seem like it was a long time coming. After all, who better than the gal who portrayed shoe obsessed Carrie Bradshaw on Sex In The City, to dole out whole slew of sure-to-be fashionable footwear with which to fill your impossibly overstocked shoe closet? No one, we say. And with Bradshaw starting to dish on what we can expect from her SJP line, we are right.
According to a recent article in Footwear News, a “signature” element in the shoe line will be traditional and preppy looking grossgrain — an homage to her own mother’s penchant for topping the toddler SJP with a grossgrain hair ribbon every day.
And where the designs will more than likely be full of sparkle and sass, don’t expect the fabrication to follow suit. “I don’t like a shoe to be too shiny. Sometimes it loses its chicness,” Parker told the shoe tome. “That’s why suede is so nice–it takes color so beautifully as opposed to calf.”
The SJP collection, which will include bags and trenches as well, is set to debut exclusively at Nordstrom in January, and is inspired by the New York woman — naturally. “We thought [about the metropolitan New York woman]. A beautiful coat, bag and pair of shoes — they all kind of go together. It seemed tight,” explained the actress/designer. “It didn’t seem like we were trying to sell a bunch of junk to people.”
