Fashion and the environment have been making its way down the runways in incredible ways since the world has awaken to its impact on the environment. While the rest of us were going about our days in a normal fashion, some of the world elite were making an impact on this planet and raising funds to change the world for the better.

On March 29, 2011, the world’s top international collectors, philanthropists, celebrities and designers convened at New York City’s Rockefeller Center for a star-studded night of entertainment, fashion and an over-the-top live auction. The evening’s festivities raised a record-breaking amount for four of the world’s leading, science-based environmental nonprofits.

Outlandish yet once-in-a-lifetime experiences were auctioned off to raise funds for some of the world’s leading environmental charities. Experiences to be had included a tour of Central Park with Candice Bergen; A day on the set with leading action hero, Hugh Jackman; or a private lunch and falconry lesson from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

100 percent of the proceeds from the event went to benefit Oceana, Conservation International, Central Park Conservancy and Natural Resource Defense.

Notable celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Arianna Huffington, David Duchovny, Christina Aguilera and Vera Wang, as well as others, donated experiences and hopped on the giving band wagon.

Kudos to fashion for a cause!
