Altuzarra reveals Target lookbook and launch date

Way back in May we unleashed a doozy of a teaser — a sketch announcing the Altuzarra X Target collaboration — and even then we thought the anticipation would kill us. But it seems the long wait is nearly over as today’s reveal includes not only the launch date — Sept. 14 — but also the full lookbook, ensuring the riot-worthy status of the superstore’s latest designer collection. So while you’re marking your calendar (did we mention Sept. 14th?) take a peek at some of our favorites looks from Altuzarra’s 50+ piece collection of accessories, shoes and seriously stylish women’s wear. Oh, yes… and, you’re welcome.

Get a jump on fall fashion trends

Marc Jacobs

We realize it’s still sweltering, but fashion waits for no one and it’s time to start talking about fall. From coats to boots  and back again, fall trends are about bundling up without losing your stylish summer edge. So let’s dive in a take a sneak peek at some of the latest and greatest in the world of of-the-moment cold weather chic.

Stella McCartney

The rule of thumb for fall is oversizing. Everything is big, big, big. Think The Row’s chunky sweaters, the big bold robe coats from Chloe, Stella McCartney, and Altuzarra, even oversized frocks from Sarah Burton. Summer’s less-is-more look will turn to bigger-is-better before a single leaf falls.

Cushnie et Ochs

A decidedly Western appeal and an all out 60′s mod vibe was seen on the most recent fall runways, from Cushni et Ochs and Tibi’s cowboy chic hats and jackets, to Valentino, Gucci and Saint Laurent’s 60′s-inspired colorful shift dresses paired with black tights and over-the-knee boots.

And finally turtle necks are taken to the extreme on the runways of Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang and Chanel, with the cuts covering half the models faces and some going right up over their heads like a cowl. Covering up was never taken so literally as this over-the-top fall trend.

Helmut Lang

The idea of rocking any of this might be unappealing right now, but you’ll likely want to get a jump on things before the leaves start a fallen’.

A More Demure Midriff Reveal

Baring your midriff is certainly daring and utterly on-trend, but how does a gal show a little skin without risking over-exposure? A single mid-section cutout of course! Seen on the style-set likes of Diane Kruger, Kate Hudson and Allison Williams, a midriff cutout manages to exude sex appeal and elegance without trying to hard. Not to mention the way the look spices up the red carpet and is flashy enough to underplay hair and makeup — it’s a perfect cocktail party staple. Designers like Michael Kors, Altuzarra and Marios Schwab have caught on and are offering up some seriously stylish takes on the look, so we thought we’d present our evidence in the form of their latest red-carpet converts. Enjoy!

Cold Weather Wear: Parkas

Baby, it’s cold outside — and if that Northeastern blizzard isn’t enough to tip you towards winter wear, maybe the latest slew of cold weather style is: the parka coat.  It’s certainly not new to the scene, the parka has been of-the-moment for the past 3 years gracing snowy film festival red carpets, and muddy music fests only now it’s rife with style: bold, bright hues, geometric patterns, and lots of boxy silhouettes — there is a look for every fashion aesthetic.  Altuzarra, Burberry, and Alexander McQueen have even graced us with their version of the parka.  So whether you’re bundling up in a classic favorite neutral, or taking a cue from the colorful street style scene, the parka is the thing to do when it’s blustery outside.

Trends: Mad for metallics

Wallflowers will have a heck of a time getting any attention this season, as metallics march their way into the wardrobes of tres chic “it” girls like Kate Bosworth, Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung, and Kate Moss — and then steadily make their way into everyone else’s closets.

Alexa Chung

The holiday’s are a great time to pull-on a little extra gilding, and with the S/S 14 collections of such fashion darlings as Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Lanvin, and Givenchy featuring silver, bronze, and gold gilt jackets, skirts, and looks from designers are dominating F/W looks — and metallics seem to be leading the pack!

Fall 2013 Trends: Leather

Dior Fall 2013

The fashion world is in a frenzy with this week’s kick off NY Fashion Week — which means one thing for those of us not sitting front row in the Big Apple: trend watch.  Celebrities and industry folk sit side-by-side, breath baited, watching as the haute couture reveal of the style savvy makes its way down the runway.  From office to evening, Fall has always been a dramatic fashion affair, and this years top trends are no different.

Last Thursday we prowled our way through the leopard trend that’s topping nearly everyone’s to-do list, so today we’ll let you in on another ‘L’ words that you’ll L-O-V-E to L-O-V-E for Fall 2013:  Leather.

Alexander Wang Fall 2013

Always a must-have topper in the Fall/Winter jacket department, this season’s leather is making it’s way on to shorts, skirts and particularly ladylike dresses by the likes of Dior, Michael Kors, and Altuzarra.  Think the unlikeliest of strapless waist cinchers and fitted pencil style frocks all done up in motorcycle black leather and you’ll get the surprisingly feminine idea.  Zip tops, leggings, and the typical boots, handbags, pumps, and belts and are also getting the leather treatment.  So prepare to rev your engines for that most rock-n-roll of textiles this season — it’s going to be an ultra-chic ride.
