Before you dismiss today’s post as another designer collaboration, let me say two words: Joseph Altuzarra.
Target has announced their latest designer pairing and we’re willing to wager it’ll reinvigorate your lust for affordable ready-to-wear fast-fashion. Mr. CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund-winner, Altuzarra is poised to present a line of lingerie, apparel, shoes and accessories, set to hit store shelves on Sept. 14.
The French/American designer, who dresses a bevy of Hollywood’s A-list beauties like Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence, is well known for feminine designs that still manage to exude sex appeal—a combo we’re pining to see duplicated for at a more affordable price tag than his haute couture. The collection will feature 50 items with a price cap of $89.99. If the sketch published in WWD was any indication, this is one line worth marking your calendars for.
By now you’ve certainly busted out your skirts and shorts, but there’s a new less leg-baring bottom in town that’s quickly becoming a spring style staple: Spring pants.
From slouchy trousers to flowy wide-bottomed pants, printed or plain, the season’s best separate comes in a vast variety of cuts and styles perfect for every body type and every occasion. Pair a skinny legged floral print with a button up and a blazer for a great office to cocktail hour combo, or dress up a casual harem style pant with heels and a well-cut crop for a weekend day to night look—pants are the style staple for spring. Here are a few perfect pant outfits to aspire to:read more
Spring ’14′s best eye makeup look has taken a turn towards the sky and sea with a resurgence of blue hued shadow, liner and even mascara. NOTE: This is not your mother’s baby blue eyeshadow. Instead, it’s a turn towards a darker blue palette, like navy, indigo, cobalt and even an enviable sheer indigo—and stars like Beyonce, Emmy Rossum and Emma Stone are all trying this look on for size.
For a modern take on this classic color, try a highly pigmented cobalt shadow or liner boldly making a statement on the trend. Or stick with a reverse ombre, starting with navy liner and moving up over the entire eyelid blending to a sheer finish just before the eyebrow. A softer look will include choosing a sheer gray-toned blue which will highlight most any eye color, looking of-the-moment without going over the top. Or just throw caution to the wind and create a mermaid-ish holographic smokey eye with shimmering aqua, green or violet-toned blue shadows.
The look also played double duty as liner and highly pigmented eyelid stain at both Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 14 catwalk, and also seen at the Badgley Mischka S/S 14 presentation and Miu Miu S/S 14—all in preparation for hitting your own cosmetics case this season. So what are you waiting for?
Oh sure, you can don that crimson party dress, or heart print blouse, but if today of all days you’re not seeing red — in the form of a pretty painted pout or manicure — you’re doing something wrong.
Red has long been the color du jour for nail lacquer, lipsticks and gloss, and never more so than now. From wine-inspired burgundy and plums shades to candy-colored hues, red is the go to for of the moment glamour — and the bevy of color options can leave a gal simply breathless. In the spirit of the day, we’ve sourced a few red carpet and runway looks featuring red manicures and lips to L.O.V.E.

The gowns are glamorous, the performances divine, but our favorite thing about award season is the front row seat to what is sure to be the next big “must have” in each of our wardrobes. This season’s tiniest detail to make the list is the ear cuff.
Now before you settle on visions of a bold punk, chain link statement, today’s ear cuff is down right ladylike in variations of crystals, diamonds — even pearls! — all tightly pinned to the ear. Perfect for the red carpet, or for a casual weekend brunch with the girls.
Jennifer Lawrence, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rashida Jones — check out the slew of celebs sporting a variation of the ear cuff and we bet you’ll be rushing off to snap up some ear-candy of your very own.
Today’s trend-watch is firmly fixed on the throwback craze the fashion and beauty world seems enamoured with — particularly in the makeup department. From yesterday’s brushed up brow, to the red-carpet’s barrage of bright pink pouts — the 80’s – 90’s is having what they call “a moment.” And that moment features a heavily hued in the lip and eye department.
Once reserved as an either/or scenario, the current craze features heavily smoky or colored eyeshadow, liner, and mascara, in tandem with a heavily painted lip. If you need further proof you need only look as far as your fave celebrity’s recent photo ops, where you can peep Sandra Bullock pairing a smokey eye with a red lip, Jennifer Lawrence sporting a charcoal and purple eye with a matte watermelon-hued pout, and a new fashion fave, Lupita Nyong’o shimmering blue shadow with an orange red lip.
The trick is in the entirety of the look. Pairing a full face of paint can look really fresh and of-the-moment when paired with something classic, simple, and tailored. The key to pulling it off is balance, your makeup can’t compete with your outfit and vice-versa.
Jennifer Hudson, Kristen Chenowith, Pamela Anderson, and now… Jennifer Lawrence! We think it’s now safe to say that this pixie cut craze is officially a trend. Hollywood heavies are chopping off their locks in droves to a seriously chic effect. The past two weeks have tallied up the reveal of two Oscar-winners, one Broadway baby, and even Pamela Anderson, a celeb known for her long, pinup blond hair. Who’s next? A confident frame for a pretty face, it seems the pixie cut is going to be in high demand this season — so let us know… are you ready to lop your locks?
Here’s a little inspirational eye candy for the hump day. Actress and every gal’s imaginary BFF Jennifer Lawrence is shilling her Academy Award-winning self for Dior again and the pictures are gorgeous! Even if Dior isn’t your thing, the series of black and white snaps are truly a thing of beauty, from Lawrence’s flawlessly highlighted makeup to the exquisite long pants and dress jackets, it’s clear why the French fashion house is smitten with its latest muse. Here’s a few more pictures from the campaign to inspire your transition to fall’s jacket-required weather.read more

The Hunger Games franchise is veering from its survival chic style to flat-out couture as Lionsgate unleashes its latest promotional coup for the beloved book-turned-blockbuster — a website called Capital Couture, featuring highly-styled portraits of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Effie Trinket.
On the heels of her Oscar win, Lawrence couldn’t be hotter right now, so it makes sense that the trilogy’s second effort Catching Fire would start revealing itself pronto — and featuring the designs of such heavies as Alexander McQueen (Effie Trinket) and whoever created J.L.’s frothy number… we can’t wait to see more!read more
