Oscars 2013: Hollywood Puts Its Best Dressed Foot Forward

The Oscar red carpet is arguably THE BIGGEST celebrity fashion gawping event of the year and the attendees of the 2013 Academy Awards certainly put their best foot forward (except maybe Sally Field whose foot actually featured a pair of sneakers.) Sequins and a nude, white and black palette reigned surpreme with elegant appearances by Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Lining’s Playbook) and Best Supporting Actress winner Anne Hathaway (Les Mis), not to mention a critical standout in the Best Dressed category Charlize Theron — but there were a few standouts donning fresh, bold hues like Jennifer Aniston and Kerry Washington. Jennifer Lawrence Is the New Face of Miss Dior Handbags

From Hunger Games to haute couture, Jennifer Lawrence seems to be enjoying her pick of plum roles, critical acclaim and magazine covers — all the perks associated with being a modern-day ingenue.

*Cue the fashion contracts.

After the staggering success of designer Raf Simons’ debut collection for Dior, the high-end fashion house has announced that Lawrence has been chosen as the new face of Miss Dior handbags. Simons had this to say of the label’s latest celebrity acquisition: “Her youth and her classic beauty, but also her force of character and the complexity she’s capable of embodying at such a young age, are, for me both unique and very moving.”

So while it remains to be seen whether or not this new announcement spells the end of Mila Kunis’ contract with the brand — Kunis helmed the most recent campaign for the coveted handbags — we can be fairly certain that we’ll catch Lawrence donning red-carpet Dior designs in the very near future.
