I spy a trend amongst the current sea of popular prints that perfectly evokes the effervescent and flirty vibe of summer: the lip print. Seen on the S/S runways of Giles, Alice + Olivia, Gucci and Saint Laurent, and peppered across the shelves of nearly every fast fashion house in town, this smoochy print plays cheeky, retro like nobodies business and still manages to look entirely grown up.
It was likely also hard to miss in the puffed out sequin off-the-shoulder Saint Laurent top in Rihanna’s March Vogue editorial and Lily Collin’s Apring ’14 cover of Lucky magazine. So pucker up, buttercup. There’s no better time to sport this cheeky lip print than right now!
Never content to sweat through those summer days and nights like the rest of us, those industrious fashion folks are hard at it doling out the latest and greatest for fall. Witness from the Nicole Kidman fronted Jimmy Choo campaign and Versace’s campaign featuring a nude (again) Kate Moss — Fall’s haute couture campaigns are heavy on the drama. They’re also heavy on model-of-the-moment Cara Delevigne, who scored heavies like Mulberry, Saint Laurent, Fendi, and DKNY.
Accompanied by owls, beaches, modern art, boats, and taxi cabs, Fall 2013′s campaigns are high on theatricality, and that suits us here at PoshBeauty.com just fine. So here are a few of favorites that you’re surely already starting to see as the August fashion mags are hitting stands now.
Retailer H&M is quickly pushing it’s way to the top of the retail chain and slowly making its way into the luxury market. The popular trendy fashion store has successfully transitioned from its fast fashion persona and into higher end fashion after collaborating with designers such as Jimmy Choo and recently Maison Martin Margiela. But the show doesn’t stop here folks.
Always the one to be steps ahead of the rest of the game, H&M is planning to build a new set of concept stores to be called “& Other Stories”, which according to Reuters, will offer clothes, shoes, bags and accessories in Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Milan, Paris and Stockholm initially. Prices will run the gamut not unlike the existing model at H&M today.
“Its our aim to be a one-stop styling destination,” Spokeswoman Elke Kieft said. “Beauty is going to be important as well. So there will be a wide range of colour cosmetics.”
There’s no set date for when the first store opens but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. Hopefully a U.S. store will be on it’s way here in the states if “& Other Stories” proves to be successful.read more
