Let’s kick off the weekend with a little fashion eye-candy that just so happened to be the Guggenheim International Gala Pre-Party red carpet that graced the city of New York this week with it’s oh-so-stylish attendees. Hosted by none other than fashion house Dior, the event was chock full of glorious looks from which to cull your weekend’s perfect party look — from the flipped-up hair and flipped-out skirted 50′s style of actress Camilla Belle, to the stunning red booties gracing the feet of Marion Cotillard (muse to Dior creative director Raf Simmons), to the rainbow variety of actual models in attendance (Joan Smalls, Constance Joblanski, Karlie Kloss.) They say emulation is the greatest form of flattery… we think it may be the most stylish too. Have a great weekend!read more
Those of you who gawped at yesterday’s party-perfect H&M Consciousness Exclusives collection needn’t worry that your casual wear needs won’t be addressed. Fast-fashion is just that — F-A-S-T — so it seems timely that news of another H&M collection would hit the blogosphere. This time geared towards that “model off-duty” look.
Dubbed “New Icons” the collection is a street scene homage to some of the hottest catwalkers around — Joan Smalls, Daphne Groeneveld, Lindsey Wixson, and Liu Wen. Naturally the fearsome foursome star in the accompanying campaign with stock sound bites like Smalls, “It’s super cool and for your everyday girl who wants to look great and feel comfortable at the same time.”
You can expect H&M’s “New Icons” collection to include tees, embellished vests, faux-leather biker jackets, tote bags, maxi skirts, and ankle boots — in the particularly palette of black, white, and beige. Look for the goods to hit stores sometime in April.read more
Raquel Zimmermann and Joan Smalls are featured in “To Rome With Love” for Vogue March 2013. The story line is shot by photographer Mario Testino and crosses the line into an androgynous Joan Smalls dressed in ultra-masculine looks, holding closely to Zimmerman in a girl-meets-boy-meets-girl perspective. The couple are captured in compromising standstills, effortlessly tailored suits and feminine aesthetics that pull out more than a simple fashion shot. This beauties is art at its finest. Styling was done courtesy of Tonne Goodman, hair by Christiaan and make-up by Tom Pecheux.
The pair take a romantic art tour of Italy, flirting, kissing and embracing before our eyes in a bliss that just so happens to occur in high fashion. See more of the shoot below and grab your copy of Vogue on newsstands now.
One of our favorite models Joan Smalls covers Harper’s Bazaar Brazil March 2013 wearing an ensemble from Givenchy’s Spring 2013 collection. This cover is photographed by Kacper Kasprzyk who managed to capture the fierce essence of Smalls who conquers more runways and covers than we can name. This girl has been working hard and we commend her.
She also slays the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Bulgaria, looking again fierce in a black and white mix showcasing a classic white collar shirt and a tuxedo jacket. What’s your favorite cover look Posh Beauties?
This girl crush we have on Joan Smalls is something serious. And for good reason. The international supermodel conquers the January 2013 issue of Vogue Brazil BLACK Issue giving us everything tribal, color-hued like a true stylist and long flowing tresses that make us want to dive headfirst into this world of beauty.
She’s already conquered the covers of Vogue Turkey and Japan while wowing us as MTV’s host of House of Style and rocking it out in Versace adds. If there’s anything that’s deemed impossible for Smalls to do, most likely it doesn’t exist.
Photographed by Henrique Gendre, Smalls’ editorial is titled “ Maré Étnica”. This is the model’s fourth Vogue cover to date. Happy New Year and Happy Friday beauties!
While you’re busy sneaking in that last minute X-mas shopping, the fashion world is once again a step ahead of the game. You’re prepping for Santa and they’re already well into the New Year’s celebrations with the magazine racks revealing a seriously snazzy array of January 2013 covers.
Celebrities dominate the mags, with Jessica Chastain continuing her reign as celebrity-du-jour, gracing a lion’s share of the glossies by scoring covers of GQ, Elle, Deutch Vogue, and, of course, the 4 art-inspired W covers that we fawned over previously. Pop stars Gwen Stephanie (Vogue and Marie Claire) and Kylie Minogue (Elle) are also on-hand, as are actresses Jessica Biel (Elle), Gwyneth Paltrow (InStyle), Anne Hathaway (Glamour), Sienna Miller (Harper’s Bazaar and Harper’s Bazaar UK), and Kate Bosworth (Harper’s Bazaar Australia.) And let’s not forget the supermodels — there’s Kate Upton (Vogue UK), Joan Smalls (Vogue Japan and Vogue Brash) and Carolyn Murphy (Vogue Australia.) So yes, the 2013 covers are, in a word: dazzling. Take a look for yourself!
The Garden of Eden might not have been as sexy as this cover issue featuring Joan Smalls and Sam Riley in a reenactment of the sharing of the forbidden fruit, but we’re turned on by the temptation of it all. Gracing the cover of Dazed & Confused Magazine for the October 2012 issue, there’s an instant hauteness that escapes from the covers and assaults our moral dilemmas while challenging the beauty of free will. As the two models share the apple in the “Temptation” story line photographed by Sean & Seng and styling by Robbie Spencer, we’re drawn in to the spiritual, religious, artistic, hidden and fantasy innuendo’s that escape the ideology of right and wrong and outline simply what is.
This lusty photo shoot is carried out throughout the entire magazine and features ample shots of what it means to be on the road to paradise. Available on newsstands, you’ll love the fashionable feature that makes your brain spark.read more
