A More Demure Midriff Reveal

Baring your midriff is certainly daring and utterly on-trend, but how does a gal show a little skin without risking over-exposure? A single mid-section cutout of course! Seen on the style-set likes of Diane Kruger, Kate Hudson and Allison Williams, a midriff cutout manages to exude sex appeal and elegance without trying to hard. Not to mention the way the look spices up the red carpet and is flashy enough to underplay hair and makeup — it’s a perfect cocktail party staple. Designers like Michael Kors, Altuzarra and Marios Schwab have caught on and are offering up some seriously stylish takes on the look, so we thought we’d present our evidence in the form of their latest red-carpet converts. Enjoy!

It seems the brand has chosen the face of several of its 2012 advertising campaigns, actress Kate Hudson, to don the designer hat and pony up a collaborative capsule as well as star in another of Taylor’s campaigns.

This is Hudson’s first foray into designing, so we’re not sure what to expect or how big a hand she’ll actually have in the creating portion of events, but WWD is reporting that the actress, ”helped create a lineup of looks inspired by her red-carpet style, reinterpreted for everyday occasions.” Huh? What does that mean? Well, we’re not entirely sure, but when the looks start rolling out… we’ll be sure to let you know.

Kate Hudson Loves Ann Taylor: Part 3

Returning as muse for conservative clothing titan Ann Taylor, actress Kate Hudson’s latest campaign photos have been revealed.  This is Hudson’s third consecutive season of ads for the brand (she took over A.T. duties from actress Demi Moore,) donning pieces from fall’s 2012 collection.

“Fall is always my favorite season,” Hudson recently told WWD. “I love layers and Ann Taylor is really going for more color and prints and fashion and stepping out of the box for their company.”

The campaign was shot by Ann Taylor favorite, photographer Tom Munro who found inspiration from a mash-up of “the modern woman” and “the glamour of Paris in the 1960s. “I love the ’60s Parisian influence, animal prints, silhouettes and bold, bright colors,” the star says in a statement. “The pieces are stylish, versatile and comfortable.”

So keep those eyes peeled come mid-August for the items featured in the campaign to his store shelves (and online.)
