The forthcoming Fall/Winter 2013 collection from Katie Homes and partner Jeanne Yang borrows its inspiration from the late 1940′s Audrey Hepburn aesthetic, offering an unobtrusive style that fit the private appointment scene for buyers and not the runway during New York’s Fashion Week. And rightly so. To stand out on its own, the team opted out of the tents and left the introduction of their collection — a project of three years — to stand on a pedestal all its own.
The silhouettes are forgiving, the colors a bit subdued and hold strong to the feeling of an every day type chic for the aficionad who appreciates a timeless garment that offers both style and function.
“My mom was a sewing contractor, and she put me through college,” Yang told WWD. “Katie’s mother had a drapery business, so she knows about draping.”
The entire line is made right here in the USA in New York and Los Angeles. View the entire collection from the entrepreneurs here.
Bombshell Katie Holmes is making headlines these days and it has absolutely nothing to do with her very public divorce from actor Tom Cruise. The beauty recently announced today her official partnership with Alterna Haircare making Holmes co-owner and first-ever celebrity spokesperson.
“I’m really proud to be a part of this company – not only because the products are incredible, but because their ‘accessible luxury’ and ‘free of’ philosophy really speaks to me,” said Katie in a press release. “I love that Alterna uses natural and organic ingredients and stays away from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens. It’s good for my hair and good for the earth, so I feel good using it.”
According to the release, consumers will get their first glimpse at the partnership with the Spring 2013 integrated marketing campaign, which will appear in March women’s beauty, lifestyle and salon trade publications. We’ll begin to see the line pop up globally at fine salons, specialty beauty retailers (Sephora, Ulta, select Nordstrom, Douglas) and all e-Commerce outlets, including the brand’s own e-Commerce site slated to launch in February 2013.
“Katie inspired us by gracefully evolving from an actress to a multi-faceted artist, designer and style icon,” says Joan Malloy , President/CEO of Alterna Haircare. “Alterna has been haircare’s ‘best kept secret’ for years, but that is about to change. We’re confident that adding Katie’s natural beauty, gorgeous hair and creative instincts to our state-of-the-art, results-driven haircare collection will be a game-changing combination.”
Well done Ms. Holmes. Well done.
Now that she’s out from Tom’s thumb, we’ve seen many examples of actress/fashion entrepreneur Katie Holmes taking the driver’s seat, and 2013 doesn’t seem to be any different as she starts the new year as the new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics.
News of Holmes latest partnership as BB’s first-ever celebrity representative broke a few months back with the first snaps releasing early this week — and did we mention she looks GORGEOUS? Yeah. She does.
This first pix is in anticipation of the release of a new Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick and is evidence that Holmes typically classic and never-overdone look is a perfect match for Brown’s fresh aesthetic. Look for the rest of the ad campaign to launch in February.read more
It seems Katie Holmes is making waves for reasons other than her divorce from mega-actor Tom Cruise.
After a small launch of her own label in 2009 with design partner and stylist Jeanne Yang, Holmes has announced that Holmes & Yang will finally join the big boys with a presentation at New York Fashion Week in September.
WWD say’s we can expect Holmes & Yang to continue to create luxury basics and wearable day -to-night pieces paying particular attention to craftsmanship — all with mass Made-In-the-USA appeal, “[from] rock stars to heads of state.” A spokesperson for Holmes said that her beleaguered personal life would not impact her fashion label, which is available Barneys and Harvey Nichols in London.
