Award season took another step forward last night with the annual 57th Grammy Awards — yes, that means we’re about to sprinkle your Monday with our favorite rock-n-roll red carpet looks. From sheer sequins to basic black, sexy cutouts to chic pantsuits, the celebs ran the gamut at the music industries biggest night, mostly laying off the bold, bright colors and sticking to shades of black and white. (One notable exception was Rihanna who sported a massive pink dress.) And while we’re going to hold off on offering up Madonna and her derriére (you can find that aplenty on Dr. Google), we are going to give you a peak at what we think were the winners in the style department. Here we go!
The good, the bad, and the ugly — last night’s 2014 VMA Award’s ceremony had it all. Never void of wild fashion choices, this year’s Moon Man awards was a veritable eye feast of leather, legs, and lots and lots of skin. Onstage and off, stars like Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and Kim Kardashian all strutted their stuff down the red carpet. Here are arguably some of the best (and questionably the worst) looks.
As we prepare to turn the corner from January to February, our thoughts turn to what’s trending in the wonderful world of shoes. We’re sick to death of bundling up in boots, and judging from the latest spring collections, there’s a footwear trend a-coming that is just ripe for the winter-to-spring transition: the mule.
Seen on celebs like Kate Bosworth and Katy Perry, the mule is as stylish as it is easy to slip into. And did we mention universally flattering? Designers like Stella McCartney, Jason Wu, and Chloe have all offered up their version of the mule, each as leg-lengthenging and go-with-anything as the next. So in the spirit of spring, here’s a few of our personal favorite spring mule styles for you to ogle.
So, can we all agree that Beyoncé’s relaxed wave bob, dewy complexion, and soft hazy eye makeup stole the show at last night’s Grammy awards? From her highly anticipated “Drunk in Love” performance with husband Jay Z — where Bey-Bey rocked a freshly showered, undone look — to her floral peek-a-boo lace entrance frock, Queen Bey most assuredly stole the show.
Of course, Beyoncé wasn’t the only winner in the best-dressed list department. Taylor Swift nailed it again, this time trading in her signature award season red pout for a softer more natural hue, which seemed to be a trend as a pregnant au natural Ciara, and pop singer Rita Ora, known also for her signature red lip, followed suit.
Acting as exception to that rule was the nearly-black bordeaux lip that’s become a trademark of newly dubbed rock-Princess Lorde, and was also spotted on Katy Perry.read more
Snakeskin, giraffe, and tiger stripes — animal prints have been heating up haute collections for years now, but judging from the resurgence of leopard print on fall runways and red carpets, it seems there is new king of the jungle.
Think fresh and fun, yet sophisticated, autumn 2013 leopard prints are elegant and decidedly un-garish, appearing in an array of colorful re-imaginings, chunky sweaters, and over-sized silhouettes, as well as flattering small printed pencil skirts, underplayed spotted silk blouses, and playful handbags and heels.
Is it the slightly shaved head, trend-setting crop top or image of the princess of pop smoking ganja that’s got Rihanna’s fans going crazy? Rihanna is wowing us at the 2012 Coachella festival with her almost effortless style that makes us ask “does this chic ever have an off day?”
The totally bad ass songstress brings the cool factor like no one else and proves to us again that she is a good girl gone bad with a red lip to match. We’ll expect for her to rock this look, dark hair and Ray Bans as well, well into the spring.
