Retailer H&M is quickly pushing it’s way to the top of the retail chain and slowly making its way into the luxury market. The popular trendy fashion store has successfully transitioned from its fast fashion persona and into higher end fashion after collaborating with designers such as Jimmy Choo and recently Maison Martin Margiela. But the show doesn’t stop here folks.
Always the one to be steps ahead of the rest of the game, H&M is planning to build a new set of concept stores to be called “& Other Stories”, which according to Reuters, will offer clothes, shoes, bags and accessories in Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Milan, Paris and Stockholm initially. Prices will run the gamut not unlike the existing model at H&M today.
“Its our aim to be a one-stop styling destination,” Spokeswoman Elke Kieft said. “Beauty is going to be important as well. So there will be a wide range of colour cosmetics.”
There’s no set date for when the first store opens but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. Hopefully a U.S. store will be on it’s way here in the states if “& Other Stories” proves to be successful.read more
It’s almost here! The long-awaited Maison Martin Margiela x H&M collection is nearing it’s launch date — evidenced by today’s leak of the first few campaign images. First surfacing in China, fashion site High Snobette picked them up and started the frenzy that followed. The collection looks to be a dark compendium of black clothing in a wide variety of shapes: wide leg pants, shoulder-padded jackets, and asymmetrical dresses. Sarah Murray and Marie Sophie Wilson star in the ad campaign which is set to debut all over on November 8th, just in time for the in-store date November 15th when you’ll be lined up around the corner to snatch up the pairs coveted collection. Here’s a few more photos for you to ogle. Enjoy!read more
While H&M has virtually pioneered the art of the luxe brand collaboration… they’ve hardly pushed the limits of fashion with their very first Lagerfeld pairing (2004) or their most recent Versaci (2011) or Marni (2012) outings. According to the rumor mill… that’s all about to change.
Despite H&M’s coy response to The Huffington Post – ”Unfortunately we do not comment on rumors” — it is nearing that time of year when they roll out news of their latest designer partnering, and they’re about to, not only step outside of the box, but pretty much blow the box to bits. Word on the street (and by street we also mean as reported by WWD) is that H&M will be pairing with the uber-avant garde Belgian label Maison Martin Margiela — which will make the die-hard cult Margiela crowd swoon and just may open up a new and affordable fashion frontier for the rest of us.
