Brooke Shield to pair with MAC for Icon collection

If beauty icon were an actual career, it would seem appropriate that Brooke Shields would be one. The beloved model, actress and author is adding another slash to her business card, this time collaborating with MAC Cosmetics on creating their next Icon line.

Working closely with the people at MAC, Shield’s took a look at her own makeup collection — what she liked, what she didn’t like, and what she was hoping MAC could do better.
The noted beauty was so inspired by the collaboration that she created two concepts. “One was this really fresh-faced, cleaner, daytime look and the other was much more vampy with a big focus on the eyes, and I’m both of these things,” she explained. “I like the natural part of myself, and I like the sexier side, too.”
In order to accommodate both, the Brooke Shields for MAC Icon collection includes a 16-shade eye-shadow palette, a brow liner and set gel (of course), blush, a lipstick and glosses, bronzer, nail lacquers and mascara — all priced between $17 and $85.

The collection will hit U.S. MAC stores on Oct. 2 and will arrive at international outlets soon after that.

A perfectly evil palette: MAC meets Maleficent

When the trailer for Disney’s Maleficent made its way onto the internet, my first thought was, “Squee! Wings!” My next thought was a faster-then-the-speed-of-light repetition of “cheekbones, lipstick, cheekbones, lipstick…” Judging by MAC’s latest silver screen collaboration, the beauty brand must have that the same reaction.

Mark your calendar for the up-n-coming limited-edition release of MAC’s Malificent cosmetics line. Inspired by Angelina Jolie’s turn as Sleeping Beauty’s wickedly attractive villain, the collection will feature all of the lipsticks, glosses, eye shadows, nail lacquers, and powders necessary to making evil look so darned good. MAC’s Proenza Schouler Collection Set For Limited Run

All you beach babies pining for summer casual style can breath a sigh of relief; the long-awaited MAC Proenza Schouler cosmetics collection is finally here.

We’ll admit the idea is unusual in its surf-infused inspiration, as makeup doesn’t typically translate to a frolic in the sea—but this pairing is a sure-fire way to nail sand-and-sea beauty. Breaking from their signature black-and-white palette, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have created a very pretty collection of neutral/pink lipsticks, liners, nail polish and ombré blushes, peppered with a few choice nighttime elements like an orange-red lipstick called Mangrove, an electric peony lipstick called Dynamo, and a bloom-inspired red-pink nail lacquer called Bougainvillea. There’s even a collection of brushes with holographic tie-dyed handles to match the makeups whimsical packaging to get you in the mood. The limited-edition collection is set to be priced from $18-$39 and is poised to appear briefly on store shelves from April 24th through May 22. Set your calendars folks, the MAC + Proenza Schouler collection is promising to be makeup’s must-have answer to the song of summer.

Alber Elbaz + Lancome Adorably Announces Makeup Collaboration

Attention: Alber Elbaz isn’t done being adorable.

After his recent win for the Geoffrey Beene Fashion Impact Award — and oh, so sweet acceptance — the beloved designer is once again upping his *squee* factor with an animated announcement of a new collaboration: a makeup line.

Pairing with cosmetics titan Lancôme, Elbaz’s makeup collection is set to hit shelves on June 15th of this year, and — if we’re to believe the cartoon ladies in the film short announcement — just might include an array of electric hued eyeshadows. And if that’s not enough to woo you, surely the tiny, winking Elbez cartoon at the end will do the trick.

Lancôme president had this to say of the iconic designer, ”His sense of luxury, his vision of femininity, and that hint of audacity resonate perfectly with the new values of the Maison Lancôme.” But don’t take his word for it — check out the animated announcement here.
