We can think of no better way to kick off the weekend then a preview of the long-awaited collaboration between Peter Pilotto and Target. After announced the pairing way back in September, the celeb-adored label left us all to speculate on what they might cook up for the superstores first 2014 reveal. Monday’s lookbook launch, featuring cocktail dresses, bikinis, bags, towels, and separates, did not disappoint.
The British brand is a long-time favorite of the actress/model set, counting fashion muses lil Kate Bosworth, Miranda Kerr, Kristen Stewart, and Emma Watson as fans of it’s bold, geometric prints and striking, bold colors and — judging from the preview (and the under $60 per piece price tag) — we think you will be too.
The Peter Pilotto for Target collection is set to hit store shelves on Feb. 9th, and will also be available internationally on Net-a-porter.com.read more
Has the weather forecast left you wondering, “What exactly does one wear to a Polar Vortex?” Yeah… us too. The answer (and today’s trend) is an oldie but a goodie!
Celebs (Blake Lively, Michele Williams), fashion folk (Miranda Kerr, Ashley Olsen), and street style stars are all wrapping up in that beloved winter accessory that does double duty in the cozy/cute department: the scarf. Unlike spring’s wispy thin neck-wraps, cold weather scarfs are oversized and bolder versions in textiles like cashmere, wool, and knit. Printed or plain, wrapped tightly at the top of your coat, or loose around the neck, the winter scarf is a great way to add a little variety to your everyday outerwear or your winter sweater.
Proof positive that bundled up doesn’t have to mean boring.read more
Thank goodness, thigh-high boots are back. (Honestly, we had no idea they left.)
Everywhere I look, blogs and fashion mags are touting the merits of “the latest trend” — a pair of boots that climb up over-the-knee to the thigh. Once considered too tough for everyday wear, the thigh-high is looking every inch the wardrobe staple it should be on the likes of It-girls Olivia Palermo, Lily Aldridge, and our own fashion-favorite Diane Kruger. So it looks like the look is here to stay, which is fantastic news for my own tall, cool, suede pair.
Here are some of our favorite recent thigh-high snaps… see if you don’t agree!
Fall has officially landed, bringing with it the expected temperature drop that turns style-conscious thoughts to winter wear — the cold weather coat. And while the expectation of trendy cuts and colors is apparent in the pink pea-coats and asymmetrical camo zip-ups hitting the racks, the season’s single most of-the-moment detail is silhouette — the cocoon coat.
Bold shouldered and roomy, the cocoon coat has landed in the collections of Proenza Shouler, Alice + Olivia, and Alexander Wang with it’s clean lines and rounded, sloping shoulders — a perfect melange of 50′s femininity and the 80′s power suit.read more
Summer is full of fun-loving, trend-setting looks that, come September, will have decidedly jumped the shark. It seems every season there is a smattering of trends that, while decidedly of-the-moment in June, rapidly decline into late-summer don’ts. So while the getting’s good, it’s best to try our top-three hot-now, but-soon-to-be-dismissed styles — before it’s simply to late.
People magazine’s top look to try now is the floral crown that wove it’s way into the locks of countless music-fest ladies and accompanied one Ms. Ashley Green down the red carpet. A youthful and springy accessory to be sure… but dangerously teetering towards wood-nymph.
Palettes come and palettes go, but some are more apt to stand the test of time. One hue that we suspect won’t make it’s way onto the multi-seasonal show-stopping list is this summer’s big-winner: mint green. Reminiscent of mint chocolates and mint ice-cream, it’s not the most flattering hue on the bottom and can go geriatric-chic in .05. Wear it now while you can.
Sunglasses are always a big winner in the warmer weather, keeping those delicate peepers safe while still making a statement — and the biggest statement to be made in 2013 is a pair with multicolored reflective lenses. We don’t see this take on tie-dye lasting into Fall when the look goes from fun and flirty to sophisticated and urban. So make that rainbow arrayed statement now.read more
The past few seasons have been awash with nods to era-specific vintage fashions. From the 20′s drop-waisted flapper frocks, to the 80′s-inspired neon duds, so this whole 90′s insurgence of jelly sandals, crop tops and overalls aren’t a huge surprise. What does surprise us (just a touch) is how we possibly could have forgotten how cool that 90′s accessory-du-jour—the ear cuff—really was. Luckily the statement ear cuff is back to remind us… and judging from the red-carpet wins of such celebrity muses as Emma Watson, Michelle Williams, and Diane Kruger, we can guarantee you’re going to want one as much as we do. The latest must-have accessory is being rolled out in everything from 18K and diamonds, to the much more affordable crystal versions from such fast fashion staples as Urban Outfitters, so whether your budget is high-brow or low-on-funds… the ear cuff is one summer trend you’ll want to get in on.read more
In the current fashion climate of hi-lo collaborations and indie-chic pairings, it’s not hard to see why the tuxedo trouser is clawing its way to the forefront of what’s hot for spring 2013. Paired with a simple tee or tank, this dressy bottom is as unexpected as it is perfect for a day in the office or a night on the town — and the stripe down the side of the leg equals a long-lanky look that is universally flattering. But don’t take our word for it. Tibi, Halston Heritage, Elizabeth & James, even Forever 21, are all offering up their take on this over-is-under dressed bottom — with Miranda Kerr, Diane Kruger, and Emma Stone taking the bate. Take a look at some of our favorite celebrity tuxedo trouser looks and see if you don’t agree — the tuxedo trouser is a must-have for spring.
It’s supermodel vs. supermodel — well, not really. But it seems Kate Moss’s long-held position as the face of Mango has been overrun by Australian A-list model, Miranda Kerr.
It’s been officially confirmed that Victoria’s Secret Angel, Kerr will front Mango’s Spring 2013 campaign — including print, television and online ads. The Spanish fashion label’s latest campaign was shot last week (we imagine it was before all the Thanksgiving imbibing) with Lady Gaga favorites Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin behind the camera, and while the snaps aren’t out quite yet, fashion tome WWD did take a few on-set shot. Naturally, the pictures are making the internet rounds… which means we couldn’t wait to share them here too. Enjoy!read more
