Out of the gallery and onto your back, art-inspired prints are threatening to take over your wardrobe this season, starting with a strong showing at plenty o’ spring ’14 runway shows — Chanel, Prada, Celine… *sigh. Equal parts edgy and elegant, bold brushstrokes and painted patterns are the prints to play with, dressing up shoes, shifts, handbags, skirts and blouses. From Lady Gaga for Versace to Elizabeth Olsen for Miu Miu (and nearly every other haute couture ad campaign in between) — we’re going to call Spring 2014 the season of stick straight hair.
So far 10 of this Spring’s designer ad campaigns have doled out a bevy of beauties sporting shiny, long, and seriously straight hair. Valentino, Givenchy, Gucci, Prada, Missoni — the heavy hitters are heavily into slick, simple styles that aren’t so simple to pull off without a natural heady of silky straight strands.
It seems that spring is going to be rife with flyaway sprays, flat irons, and blow dryers and stock up on the deep conditioners! Here’s our evidence!read more
If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then couture brand Miu Miu must surely have something for Victoria’s Secret — at least their taste in models.
Miu Miu’s spring 2013 campaign is teaming with the likes of Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, and Arizona Muse — models for the lingerie label, but now fully-clothed and set “in a mysterious domestic setting” — along with Malgosia Bela, Bette Franke, Martha Hunt, and Tamara Weijenberg.
The official explanation courtesy a press release is this: “femme fatale vs. innocent ingénues,” and “playful belles vs. nostalgic beauties.” The gist is that we all get cast as the Peeping Tom, looking “through doors and windows [...] in which we encounter a new kind of elegance in this seductive celebration of contemporary femininity.”
So… here it is: Peep on!read more
If you’ve spent any time at all rifling through the pages of your favorite haute couture fashion lately, you’ll have noticed that the 2013 Resort collections ads are out enforce. It is, after all, the time of year when the Chanels, Pradas, and Guccis of the fashion set start to reveal what’s next up to bat. And while we realize, a baseball reference doesn’t exactly play well here, the sheer numbers involved in the latest campaigns is enough to call this a competitive event. Here’s a sneak peak at Chanel’s Marie Antoinette-inspired Resort 2013, Donna Karan’s soft-lit star Karlie Kloss, and Miu Miu’s super-model laden looks — the very best of the 2013 Resort campaigns.
Chloe Sevigny plays muse for Miu Miu again, appearing in their latest fall 2012 campaign in the form of a new promotional video. The actress/ it-girl, who last posed for the brand in 1996, appears in paillette-covered dresses, shorts suits, printed jackets and ties, and lots and lots of colorful footwear. The video, set to the tune “When I’m Small” by Phantogram, shows a tres-hipster Sevigny catwalking, mooning and snarling for the camera, all tricked out in Miu Miu’s latest-and-greatest. You can see the video courtesy of The New York Times here, and of course, we here at Posh Beauty have a few more peeks for you.read more
