Cannes Film Festival’s red-carpet is well-known for offering up the best star-gazing this side of awards season, and this year is no different. From A-list to D-list, reality stars to up-n-comers, celebrities are tricking themselves out in their finest frocks to celebrate film, fame and the entertainment industry as a whole. Naturally, we thought a bit of eye-candy was in order, so here we go, and Happy Friday!
Nicole Kidman rarely disappoints on the red carpet and despite less-than-favorable reviews of her long-awaited biopic Grace of Monaco, she’s turned in some seriously style savvy photo ops.
The Women in Film with Calvin Klein even was chock full of fascinating and tres fashionable favorites like Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Watts and Rooney Mara.
Blake Lively made all the style blogs at the Cannes red-carpet premiere of Mr. Turner looking every-inch the movie star she is.
Cate Blanchett’s Chopard Event appearance showed the actress looking her ethereal best in a grey metallic Valentino gown.
And it just wouldn’t be right to not circle back to the Grace of Monaco red carpet to celebrate the stunner, Zoe Saldana whose Victoria Beckham white chain dress was a perfect pick for the sun and sand of the seaside city.
Strapless to plunging, scooped to scalloped, there’s nothing so vital to a silhouette than a beautiful neckline, and this year’s most popular cut may also be the most flattering. The halter dress is hot, as witnessed by the flurry of supermodels and celebrities like Naomi Watts, Mila Kunis, Jourdan Dunn, and Amanda Seyfried who’ve draped themselves in the look for recent red carpets.
A shoe-in for showing off a shoulder or delicate collarbone, a halter dress manages to be conservative and sexy at the same time, even when paired with a cutout or higher hemline. Here’s a few of our favorite halter looks to pine over your morning coffee.
If we’re judging from the celeb-set, then one look in particular is dominating the wardrobes of the famous folks: jumpsuits. Full length and shorter style onesies are adorning on the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Selena Gomez, and Naomi Watts with alarming frequency — alarming because it make us urgently want to rush out and snap one up for ourselves. DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Stella McCartney are just a few of haute couture names dolling out these one-piece wonders, along with fast fashion’s H&M and Topshop — so if you’re afraid there isn’t a jumpsuit appropriate for nearly every occasion — fear not. From red carpets to running errands there is a jumpsuit simply made to fit the bill.
The Oscar red carpet is arguably THE BIGGEST celebrity fashion gawping event of the year and the attendees of the 2013 Academy Awards certainly put their best foot forward (except maybe Sally Field whose foot actually featured a pair of sneakers.) Sequins and a nude, white and black palette reigned surpreme with elegant appearances by Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Lining’s Playbook) and Best Supporting Actress winner Anne Hathaway (Les Mis), not to mention a critical standout in the Best Dressed category Charlize Theron — but there were a few standouts donning fresh, bold hues like Jennifer Aniston and Kerry Washington. A host of actresses tricked themselves out in metallic shades like Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Naomi Watts too. Here’s a look at some of our favorites from last nights ceremony, and a rousing congratulations to all the winners!read more
Zooey Deschanel is continuing to milk her ‘It-girl’ status with a brand new gig as the face of hair care brand, Pantene.
Everyone’s favorite ‘adorkable’ actress has signed on to represent the beauty co.’s Pantene Beautiful Lengths collection in television, print and online ads (starting in August), joining fellow thespians Naomi Watts and Eva Mendes as a spokesmodel for the beauty co.
Deschanel recently told People magazine, “I am so excited to be a part of the Pantene family. Anyone who knows me knows that I am really into hair. I’m a real girly girl and love doing my hair and experimenting with different styles.”
Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths Collection also plays the philanthropy card by supporting it’s Pantene Beautiful Lengths Program which helps create wigs for women battling cancer. To which the notoriously philanthropic actress said, “They’re helping to provide confidence. You can’t put a price on that.”
Deschanel continued with, “I washed my hair last night with the products, went to bed with my hair wet and when I woke up my hair looked really great. That’s half the battle! It makes my life easier,” wasting no time in standing up for her new employers, who seem equally as smitten with their new spokesmodel.
“[Zooey Deschanel is a] breath of fresh air,” Procter & Gamble marketing director Kevin Crociata says of the ‘It-girl’. “…such a great fit for Pantene.” Looks like it’s a perfect match!
