Bombshell Katie Holmes is making headlines these days and it has absolutely nothing to do with her very public divorce from actor Tom Cruise. The beauty recently announced today her official partnership with Alterna Haircare making Holmes co-owner and first-ever celebrity spokesperson.
“I’m really proud to be a part of this company – not only because the products are incredible, but because their ‘accessible luxury’ and ‘free of’ philosophy really speaks to me,” said Katie in a press release. “I love that Alterna uses natural and organic ingredients and stays away from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens. It’s good for my hair and good for the earth, so I feel good using it.”
According to the release, consumers will get their first glimpse at the partnership with the Spring 2013 integrated marketing campaign, which will appear in March women’s beauty, lifestyle and salon trade publications. We’ll begin to see the line pop up globally at fine salons, specialty beauty retailers (Sephora, Ulta, select Nordstrom, Douglas) and all e-Commerce outlets, including the brand’s own e-Commerce site slated to launch in February 2013.
“Katie inspired us by gracefully evolving from an actress to a multi-faceted artist, designer and style icon,” says Joan Malloy , President/CEO of Alterna Haircare. “Alterna has been haircare’s ‘best kept secret’ for years, but that is about to change. We’re confident that adding Katie’s natural beauty, gorgeous hair and creative instincts to our state-of-the-art, results-driven haircare collection will be a game-changing combination.”
Well done Ms. Holmes. Well done.
It’s coming! November 13th is the big day when the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund announces it’s big winner out of the ten designers that were short-listed for the honor in July — but it looks like everyone’s taking home the prize!
While there can be only one CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund official winner, Nordstrom has announced that all ten of the finalists will be honored with a spot selling their goods at six Nordstrom stores — making this offer just this side of another fashion collaboration. (Sounds a little like that CFDA/Target capsule, right?) The designs will make their way onto Nordstrom store shelves in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and New York in February of next year.
CFDA chief exec Steven Kolb had this to say about this latest news, “It is a great opportunity for our 10 designers to have a presence in-store with a major retailer, and this will give their collections great exposure to a broader audience.”
If you’ve forgotten who’s on the shortlist for this years CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, here’s a list of the finalists whose goods will grace Nordy’s shelves in 2013:
Andrea Lieberman of A.L.C.,
Greg Armas of Assembly New York,
Sofia Sizzi of Giulietta,
Justin Salguero, Daniel Silberman, and Alina Silberman all of Illesteva,
Jennifer Fisher of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry,
Jennifer Meyer Maguire of Jennifer Meyer,
Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno,
Tabitha Simmons of Tabitha Simmons,

Nordstrom gives us lovely layered looks for fall featuring models Tao Okamoto and Herieth Paul. Fashionable but probably no match for Sandy sweeping through the East Coast, the duo turn chilly weather essentials into a game for friends, fun and fabulousness.
Herieth Paul wears a faux fur zip front Dena Products Faux Chincilla Vest over a BOSS black cashmere sweater and Franco Sarto Boots. Tao rocks the Vince Camuto ‘Walt’ boot with a Milly Embellished Fit & Flare Dress and Halogen Single Button Cardigan.

Jason Wu continues to woo the oh-so-fashionable masses with the announcement that he’s been slogging away all summer on a new juniors diffusion line to be called “Miss Wu.” — *cue the swooning.
WWD reveled that the 40-piece collection, to be sold exclusively at Nordstrom, will feature shifts and A-line frocks “with touches of Mod.” Think sixties icons Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithfull, says Wu, “Those girls had that certain something-something that really felt right for the image of [the Miss Wu] girl.”
Wu went on, “This collaboration has an appeal not just to a younger set of women, but to a broader set of women and at prices that are approachable.” And while, the line won’t exactly be Wu’s Target collaboration “approachable,” Miss Wu will be priced lower than Wu’s ready-to-wear line — think $195 – $795. The collection is set to appear in January… unless of course you’re the First Lady, Michelle Obama. In which case you get to done a Miss Wu green checkered “modern weave dress” for a recent campaign event in Cincinnati, Ohio.read more
We’re excited that style icon who recently collaborated with Macy’s to debut a collection for the fall will now add a fragrance to her brand. Debuting today at Nordstrom’s the new scent called Nicole offers a soulfoul scent that is both bohemian and feminine and is paired with a lotion and shower gel.
“Nicole was inspired by the scents of my childhood. It’s very much a reflection of my individual style—a spiritual balance of femininity and bohemian. It’s the notion that fashion can be easy, comfortable and offer juxtaposition between casual and luxury,” said Richie in a press release.
The perfume runs at $69 for a 3.4 oz bottle and $55 for 1.7 oz. The body lotion at 6.7 ounces will run you $36 and the shower gel $28.
You’ll be able to find the new line online and in-store at Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards and other specialty department stores.
