The Gap is trending normal

Normcore — apparently it’s a thing.

Dressing “normal” is now trending, which, for this blogger, opens up a mind-boggling set of questions: “Was dressing ‘Not normal’ a ‘thing’ and I missed it?” “What the heck is ‘normal’ anyways?” But I digress.

Being at the height of the basics game, The Gap is naturally on this. Their latest fall campaign taps a bevy of famous faces (Angelica Huston, Elisabeth Moss, Zosia Mamet) all tricked out in the brand’s latest wears. The series is aptly titled “Dress Normal” and includes a host of normcore goods like black denim, floral dresses and simple sweaters, which according to a recent press release “celebrates dressing for yourself and finding those perfect items… to be your most authentic self.”

“So wait… does ‘authentic’ also mean ‘normal’ now?” I’m confused. Normcore… everybody’s doin’ it.
