The Roots cover John Varvatos

John Varvatos has a new Fall 2011 ad campaign that I am absolutely in love with! The images were taken by photographer Danny Clinch and conceived by Stephen Niedzwiecki (creative director of the Yard agency in NYC,) were released on Tuesday.

The latest campaign shows one of my favorite hip-hop bands, The Roots, photographed at Republic Airport in New York as they are geting off of an airplane. The scene is inspired by classic images of The Beatles and other famous bands from the 50′s and 60′s . I love that the Varvatos brand is recognizing the impact of The Roots on current music, and using them to pay homage to the greats that came before. I really believe this campaign can be iconic!

“The Roots are one of the most creative musical forces on the planet,” Varvatos said in a written statement. “Their performances with almost every music icon in the world, of all genres, are mind-blowing and inspiring.”

A short film of an improv jam session with The Roots’ on the airport’s tarmac is also avilable on YouTube.
