The Situation’s Un-Endorsement Deal

I never thought, nor intended to do a post on the fabulously fashionable cast of everybody’s favorite reality show, Jersey Shore, but this story is hilarious! The Jersey boy and seemingly ever trending cast mate, “The Sitation,” is known for wearing very specific styles of clothing, usually consisting of tighter fitting graphic T-shirts (when he actually is wearing a shirt), and jeans or sweat pants. According to WWD, Abercrombie & Fitch couldn’t help but notice that he had been wearing a lot of their clothes, and felt his public image did not suit their brand. They even felt that he could potentially damage their brand. The company claimed that they are:

“deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image.”

So they made him an offer to stop wearing their clothes! I have posted on a lot of different celebrity endorsement deals, but I have never heard of an “unendorsement deal!” Not only did they ask him to stop wearing the clothes but they offered him a large amount of money to consider it! He apparently wasn’t the only one in the cast that they approached either, A&F went on to say on their website that they

“have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

At least at the end of the day they are still making a lot of money… and news…
