THEY GROW UP SO FAST: Make-Up for Tweens.
They grow up so fast and it seems Wal-Mart is counting on that.
Since the uber-store decided to stop selling a make-up line by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (whose market has seemingly since grown up) and launch it’s own cosmetics line called GeoGirls, whose shockingly adolescent demographic is 8 – 12 year olds. (What?!!)
And while I can’t personally account for an 8 year old needing to wear any make-up at all (I mean, really, when in your life is your skin as gloriously glowing as when you’re a kid), GeoGirl, the people at Wal-Mart see a hole and set out to fill it with a line consisting of blushes, lipsticks, eyeshadows and even skin care, including exfoliants. Many of the colors are “mother approved”, meaning they look richly pigmented in the packaging but tend to go on quite sheer – much more a ‘starter’ collection than anything else, which essentially primes a market for future purchase and use.
The line is targeted at both techie (with names chock-full of texting lingo – J4G, T2G, and TiSC. Meaning: Just for Grins, Time To Go, and This Is So Cool) and environmentalist gals with natural ingredients such as lavender, calendula and green tea, and is packaged in recycled materials.
Your daughters (and you) can start stocking up on February 21st at all Wal-Mart locations.
